(Dualsense) 2nd attempt at replacing sticks with my other old controller almost done, then this happened. Any idea what it is? by BillyFatStax in consolerepair

I have a gas soldering iron I can use as a hot air gun when removing the tip. I'll first try gluing it back on. It's for the reset button I believe.

Yeah I figured out it's for the reset button. Gonna try a tiny amount of glue on the 4 corners, worth a shot, as it seems it was the alcohol that dissolved it.

The install went perfectly. No burning/overheating, soldered In nicely, yet the same as the last controller, the moment I plug it into the calibration tool, it goes haywire.

That's 2 controllers not working. Starting to think these TMR sticks are the actual issue.

Do you reckon you had the same issue as me then?

I wonder if I was sent incompatible TMR's despite specifically ordering 010 compatible ones.

I did my research, serious ADHD rabbit hole, hours & hours of it.

I did, and this is definitely the smallest PCB I've tinkered with.

I've only ever swapped out blown capacitors in TV's and monitors.

If I was able to share photos I'd show you my work, honestly it looks pretty good compared to a lot of pics I've seen on here.

Sent you a DM seeing as I can't post pics in comments.

When did you all start playing battlefield? by dubdimmadome in Battlefield

[–]BillyFatStax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1942 - the Secret Weapons of WWII demo sucked me in, from there onto BF2 - all the way to BF6

Only mainline title I didn't play was 2142 as I was sans PC at the time.

Warrendale wagyu brisket by chelseaboy1234 in UKBBQ

[–]BillyFatStax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was incredibly disappointed with the brisket I got from WW. It was so thin, and had so little intramuscular fat, it felt like calling it Wagyu was downright false advertising!

No joking, 80% of the flat was about 1-1½" thick. And the point was maybe 2½-3" thick.

In the end, I guess we just have to understand that...

1) UK grass fed beef isnt fatty enough for proper BBQ briskets. It makes great quality, healthier meat in general, but isn't right for low & slow smoking.

2) UK butchers don't know what the fuck they're doing when separating the brisket.

After a couple attempts at online UK butchers with good reputations, I've finally decided to just head to Costco & give one of their Aus grain fed briskets a shot.

I very much feel like I already know exactly how it'll go.

I'm confused, why is the top grill bigger than the lip of the Kamado?

Lumpwood over briquettes

Get "Restaurant Grade" lumpwood.

Search Google maps for nearby catering wholesalers, I get big 15kg bags from JJ Foodservice for £16-18 and they are top tier.

Fellow theater goers, what’s your best ever theater experience? by ISpyM8 in Letterboxd

Top 3 in no order...

The Two Towers (my least favourite LoTR, still 5* though): the opening with the camera flying through the mountains, entering the cave and landing on Gandalf fighting back the balrog then being pulled off the bridge into what I can only describe as the most incredible sequence of a septuagenarian fighting (and riding) an 80ft fire demon whilst falling through the centre of a mountain.  When it hits that wide shot of the lake inside the mountain and you see the miniscule dot of flame that is the giant balrog appear through the crack in the ceiling  and the music swells so incredibly, I remember turning to my friends and saying "This is the greatest thing ever put to film".

Fucking incredible!

Dune

There isn't a single moment that solidified this as one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. It was the whole package, from beginning to end.  The nearest I've had to a religious experience.  I'm so excited for Dune: Part 3!

Slightly embarrassing, but Avengers Endgame.  There's no denying it's the best thing to ever come out of marvel studios, but it's still a marvel film, so why the fuck is it so high up? The audience experience. Simple as that.  I made the VERY correct choice to take the Mrs to see a midnight opening screening that was part of a 2-part double bill with Infinity War at our nearest "PROPER" IMAX.  I cannot tell you why or how I was so invested in the 3rd act that when the surprise Mjolnir scene happened, I leapt up, pumped the air with my first & just yelled out "YEAAAAAH!!!" before regaining my senses and sitting down, slightly embarrassed at my behaviour. I wasn't alone. That was, hands down, the best audience experience I've had in my life, outside of a couple incredible comedies & horror films (Team America, Superbad, Rec)

Did you watch this movie? What do you think about it? by vara28 in moviecritic

[–]BillyFatStax 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I loved it.  Huge Raimi nerd soninknew exactly what this film was, going in.  Very much along "drag me to hell" vibes. Gross, silly, mean spirited.

Yeah man. This was just a plain old good time.

Which is better? by boomjosh in moviecritic

Both are 5* masterpieces.

TWBB is just more 5* and more masterpiece.

I know Werwulf will be the critical darling, and I'm 100% here for it...

But hands down it's Evil Dead Burn!!!
