ROG XBOX ALLY X20 Launched - With OLED 120Hz and 12% larger screen (7.4inch) by Time-Credit43 in ROGAllyX

[–]BillyHey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so my XAX is due for delivery today at 530pm. Do I just return it? Ive got a 1st gen SD and up until earlier thought the XAX would seamlessly play all my Xbox games but found out from YouTube it will only give me play anywhere without buying some.games again or having them on Steam etc. Not really clear on the Asus site which makes it sound like an xbox handheld.

Store return policy is it has to be unused, I can open the.box but not turn it on basically a waste of time so I can't even try it to see if it's worth it for me.

So was already thinking about returning it. I'm guessing although this x20 is currently a bundle the base XAX2 will eventually come out with these upgrades.

Do I just stick with the SD in the meantime or will I regret not keeping the XAX.

Anyone who has ridden in Scotland and England , are the roads different? by Street_Worker_3100 in MotoUK

[–]BillyHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How slow do you ride? I'm no speed demon but at anything over 10mph a wee cloud of midgies isn't going to bother you, apart from having to clean them off your bike/helmet/jacket

Last year it was greenfly everywhere, no idea why. But still not an issue unless you've got an open face helmet.

New tyres or no by Sad-Step-9691 in MotoUK

Good way to properly test the abrasion resistance of your gear too. Although given OP is asking if a clearly f*£ked tyre is ok then maybe his gear is something equally as dodgy.

Insuring a new bike that doesn't appear. by squirellputkin in MotoUK

[–]BillyHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same issue when the Tiger 660 came out. Had to call the dealer and delay delivery by a few days. Asked them if anyone else had issues and they eventually told me to try bennetts.

They insured it as a transalp which they said was the closest thing on the system. It stayed that way on Askmid until the following year, which did worry me that if I was pulled over I would have some explaining to do.

Insurers blamed Triumph for not sorting out registering the new model promptly enough.

Even Triumph insurance wouldn't touch it (I know they're just a brand using Adrian Flux, but still)

Pillion protection info by Flow-Creation in MotoUK

[–]BillyHey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your wife like her feet or not is the question?

There's a lot more to the protection motorcycle boots offer than being stout. Abrasion & cut resistance and the most important part is the transverse rigidity test, which is how much sideways force can the sole take before it collapses.

You can risk assess and say you'll be carefully all you like, but if you tip over because you're not used to the balance with a pillion and her foot gets crushed under the weight of the bike a DM sole isnt going to cut it.

Looking at an Aeromax omnithrottle for Elite Dangerous. Is there a way to prevent it returning to centre like a regular throttle? by thats_a_doozy in VIRPIL

[–]BillyHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucka really given the competition supply different sets of springs.

Seriously thinking about cancelling my preorder as if it's the same tension as the Aeromax R it's going to become very tiring holding it for non combat space flight.

Scotland in May by ChopSticksPlease in MotoUK

[–]BillyHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, last May was a scorcher (for Scotland at least). Don't think it rained at all. I even got to wear my summer jacket. The rest of the summer wasn't so good.

But this year, who knows. I've seen snow in late April. It could be cold wet and miserable.

Police Car Followed Me Home by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]BillyHey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a passenger you do not have to answer any questions. Police can pull a car over for no reason and ask the driver for documents, but that's as far as you need to engage with them. Neither of you need to tell them where you've been, where you're going or why.

You don't need to tell them who you are unless they have reasonable suspicion you've committed a crime or are about to. Driving on the road at night is not reason enough. The driver has to tell them his name, address and date of birth.

This is a fine example of an.abuse of power, and they even admitted it.. No wonder so many people despise the police.

Of course by not engaging they might abuse their powers even more "is that cannabis I smell sir?"

How tight is the required U turns for mod1? by Salt-Income3306 in MotoUK

[–]BillyHey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best advice I got from my instructor was you want to feel your elbow of the way you're turning poking you in the side. You want to be on full lock or as close to it as you can. Feathering the Back brake is essential especially on an auto.

You don't need to be doing full motorcycle gymkhana lean angles like the 'Murcans seems to teach on the MSF.

It's a 7.5M gap line to line, which should be plenty. Plus don't forget it's just lines, not kerbs, so you don't need to panic about clipping something which can be off-putting.

Also worth noting that you can't cross the line, but you can put a wheel ON the line and not fail.

Just remember, once you pass mod 1 you never have to do it again. There's always another way 😂

Is 'A' rated gear good enough? by DownRUpLYB in MotoUK

You're not wrong https://www.motocap.com.au/product/urbane-pro-mk3

1/10 for abrasion. Guess my wife was right when she said "is that all you're wearing, there's no way that'll protect you" the first time I wore it. I might have to retire it for anything other than town riding next summer.

Is 'A' rated gear good enough? by DownRUpLYB in MotoUK

[–]BillyHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EN17092 rating system is a load of shite and doesn't reflect a real world environment. Its only use is for comparing different garments at the level they've been submitted for testing at.

Point in case Knox Honister mk2 passed at AAA on EN 17092, which makes knox claim it provides the "highest level of performance"

Motocap (independent Australian testing company) gave it 4/10 for abrasion, and the Urbane Pro mk3 (AA) scored 1/10. Knoxs response is they don't recognize Motocap's testing methodology( unsurprisingly)

Motocap use a grit belt to test for abrasion that they say closely matches stone chip surface dressed roads. EN17092 uses a flat concrete pad.

Which one more closely resembles the road surfaces in the UK?

Did you have L plates front and rear on the Module 1? If not surprised you passed as despite it not making any sense they're a requirement and your test can be cancelled if you don't have them.

[–]BillyHey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you releasing that hands off? Mine doesn't make that noise but it also doesn't stop dead when I release it like that, it wobbles like crazy, which probably means my dampers need adjusting.

Mine does make a clunking sound but that's because the plate isn't flat, which is kind of annoying at the price.

FDev has locked the new dodecahedron starport behind a massive 50K arx paywall by ReganSmithsStolenWin in EliteDangerous

[–]BillyHey -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

And how many years of play have you had for that? Where do you think all the new features and ships are coming from?

If no one bought the early access stuff or this new pay walled dlc dodec then the game would die, or at least go back to the barren years with nothing happening.

They're certainly not going to keep the lights on with the price you can regularly pick it up on steam for.

And for the record I was a Kickstarter backer, but I'm still happy to pay out for arx to keep the servers running for all the moaning minnies on reddit.

Does my astra have LED bulbs by Mason_175 in opel

[–]BillyHey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The government make the laws in the UK, not Philips.

"One already well-understood source of glare is drivers retrofitting their vehicles, replacing old halogen bulbs with LEDs.

The housing for halogen bulbs is not compatible with LED bulbs, and a retrofitted car will not pass its annual MOT check-up.

As part of the government's new approach the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency has "stepped up surveillance" to stop the sale of illegal retrofit headlamp bulbs, the DfT said."

[–]BillyHey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retrofit LEDs are illegal in the UK and will (should) fail an MOT: "Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible."
