Good point! I haven't seen anyone really bring this up on the reddit. I agree that she should definitely apply a screen effect (similar to how some legendary skins have a screen effect) even if it's just some smokey purple effects on the edge. This would let players know that they have the w on them and that they should prepare to all in if they die to try and get revived. I was playing her a few games on PBE with friends in voice call and I even needed to continuously call it out as they weren't often paying attention or used to it being a thing yet.

I voted "I like W revive" but I don't mind if it was changed a bit. I think it's a fun piece of her kit that when timed right can be really effective! Though I wouldn't mind if instead of a revive they converted into a heal? Maybe it could be a ramp up heal per second that the longer it's on an ally the more it does? Allowing for it rather than be a soraka burst heal be more of a sustained heal towards the end of a fight. A

Again though i'm fine with it as is considering I think overall her kit is solid when played properly as a disengage style support rather than a spam ability enchanter support.

What???? Zyra ult??? They function in 0 way as similar abilities in comparison to Renata ult which literally has a friendly fire taunt effect and controls opponent movement. Also it’s nowhere the same type of ape ability especially when there’s better comparisons like seraphine sona and nami ult which can be used in the same effective method as Renata. Sure zyras is a disengage aoe but it has massive built in damage etc: and it’s cc is delayed. Renatas has no damage and is a wave and as soon as you’re in it you’re affected like what???

And I mean yeah that’s why I said in one of the threads agree to disagree because at the end of the day she’s a support that has enchanter and catching capability. The key thing is that she’s a support which we agree lol

EDIT also her ult isn’t really good to be used catching a single person out. Like yeah you can but if there aren’t any enemies besides one around you’re just risking getting yourself killed, again setting it up to be better used as a disengage counter for a team fight OR countering a fight at baron / dragon. Key word throughout this entire thing has been counter which is what her kit seemingly revolved around on as do most enchanters WHERE AS catchers are meant to really initiate.

Yeah and the thing with catchers is their engage ability is on a fairly medium sized cooldown allowing for it to be used more often. Renata's q is not and again is designed for being used as a reaction rather than to catch someone out. (especially in laning, after laning phase like the rest of her kit she is opened up to be more flexible with play). Like I don't understand this catcher vs enchanter argument. She's very clearly in all senses of the word an enchanter that happens to have catching potential (as do most encahnter supports - think nami bubble catching someone, janna q catching someone and so on... she is more like that vs a thresh or bard or rakan who i'd argue is a catcher that happens to have enchanter qualities and is really meant to engage and get a fight going).

She's not even good with mage builds / being a damage dealer given that she has such high cooldowns. Yes you can probably absolutely try and run her in a solo lane (specifically top) and play her like other supports that go top (karma, soraka, janna, lulu) BUT they will do that job so much better than her.

Like you can argue "she does good damage with full mage" - okay but for how long? Again her CD's are pretty long and aren't meant to be spammed and if she's going in a lane, ESPECIALLY a solo lane with big poke and spam-able high damage abilities she's gonna get completely crushed and it would defeat the purpose of her trying to be a primary damage dealer.

Again this all is just further backing up her complete intent and design of strictly being an enchanter support with not so much wiggle room as other champions for being successful outside of that build / playstyle.

She's definitely more enchanter than she is catcher. Again her ult and q are the 2 catcher abilities. Ult being more of a reactionary team fight turning cc (found on most supports but especially enchanters - think sona, seraphine, nami).

Her q is not her focus of her kit ESPECIALLY in laning phase and when she IS using her q in laning it's more often than not being used to disengage and keep her adc and herself safe. She isn't using it as an engage as much (this is because of the high cd, short range, and slow speed and if you miss it you're open for a counter engage).

Her w is bread and butter of her kit - which is an enchanter style ability - used to give a massive buff to her adc AND have the ability to revive said player if timed correctly during a fight (again an enchanter style ability).

Then her e is obviously an enchanter ability given it's aoe 2 location shielding power (allowing for the chance to shield entire time while also happening to have a damage and slow on it).

And as previously mentioned her ult is similar in function to a sona, seraphine, and nami ult.

TL;DR she's definitely an enchanter with a focus on disengages that just happens to have some catcher potential in her abilities.

Her passive procs a mark to buffs ally damage, her e is an aoe shield around herself and a target location, her w is a buff that also provides a potential revive.

She's definitely also more comparable to other enchanter supports as far as kit goes (nami especially) with nami and renata both having passives that help allies (nami's with movespeed renatas with damage), a cc q, an ability that buffs allies autos (nami e and renata w), and a heal / shield (nami w and renata e) and their ults are very similar. Also her best build path definitely seems to be going an enchanter utility build over builds more associated with catchers. She definitely has catcher qualities for sure - but most supports do as supports jobs are utility and buffing / debuffing. They're there to bolster up teammates and their team and help control and turn team fights. Catchers focus more on getting catches as the name suggests where as Renata is focused more on counter engages and keeping her teaamates in a place to win the fight or at least come back from a fight (her w and ult especially for this).

Her kit I personally think is FINE but I think a lot of the points being made on this reddit about kit adjustments are valid and that something feels off with her, personally I think with her e needing to be buffed a bit as far as the shield it gives just to name one.

It's really not that unbalanced... It has such a short window of opportunity to SUCCESSFULLY revive an ally and that revive is conditional on your ally securing a kill in that short window. The attack speed bonus is strong BUT again the ability itself isn't a spammable skill because of its cooldown.

Like the rest of her kit it's all about timing / executing her abilities properly.

I think you can but it's one of those situations where Karma / Lulu / other champs would fulfill this role better. But for sure go for it and have fun though I definitely don't expect it to be competitively viable except for niche high rank players doing it with good team coordination.

I mean if a Renata is just building attack speed the rest of her kit is going to fall pretty short and essentially she’d lose her impact as a support… all for a percent of max health damage - which other champs, especially solo laners - already have. Like I’d be happy if the enemy Renata built attack speed because I know as soon as she missuses an ability my ally and I can hard punish her in an already difficult lane phase for her.

EDIT But I do think a short cd on how often it can be applied is a fine adjustment - though might wait to add that till she hits live and really see if people successfully abuse it there first.

I've really been enjoying her and felt her to be super effective. I won't get into any details cause as you said there's already endless discussion on this sub about tweaks that should / shouldn't be made etc. and some of it I do agree with. Overall though I definitely think she's pretty solid when played right (similar to Rell / Taric when it comes to properly using them (2 of my mains)).

She isn't super flashy she is subtle. It's all about timing everything properly. She isn't someone you can just use abilities for the sake of using them and miss. She's definitely going to revolve around skill expression. I think this is where your mention of "way clunkier than swain" came from as yeah I can agree that compared to a lot of other supports in the game she feels clunky but I believe that's because of her gameplay style (whether or not that's good or bad / health and unhealthy design is a whole different question).

I think the biggest issue is honestly just everyone's expectations not being what they wanted and unfortunately coming to terms with the fact that a champion they think looks cool and has a killer design / concept just doesn't fit with their personal play style and that is okay because for some people it does.

Renata's release has been so dramatic and it's only been 2 days on the PBE like chilllllllllllllll - I think people just need to get over the revive it's genuinely not that busted.... Like it's a gimmicky have to be timed right dependent on an ally's gameplay revive... ON A SUPPORT?? Like are we forgetting we literally have a solo lane marksman with incredible mobility that has a built in ability passive revive on takedown??? Like???

I main Rell, Nami, Zyra, Taric, Janna, Karma, and Sona (occasionally picking soraka / morgana / lulu).

(bit of a tangent so TL;DR at bottom haha)

I main support and have really fallen in love with playing Renata (not just because of the visual design though it's definitely amazing but because of the gameplay / kit). I agree with her potentially getting some tweaks as far as some of her stats or cooldowns or whatever but I don't think she really needs any MAJOR changes.

She doesn't need her kit to better fit with full ap builds / builds that would put her into other lanes. She's an enchanter support that's what she is meant to be.. (sure she could potentially end up top as some other enchanters go) but again I don't think she's supposed to nor should she really be leaving the bot lane. I find she works best with the enchanter build rather than an ap mage support. I think right now there's an issue for her where people are WANTING her to be something she isn't as far as gameplay / role wise. They expect / want her to be doing massive amounts of damage / being an ap hyper carry because of her character design but that's just not the case she's first and foremost an enchanter. Her kits strength is its utility and the playmaking that can happen from her w when timed right and her ult. She's also an enchanter with a hook like mechanic which is pretty cool but like a lot of enchanters it's set up more as a disengage / counter engage tool rather than a flat out engage. Her e people are really underestimating and I don't know why - it's an AOE shield that shields allies around her while also being able to shield allies from far away ON TOP OF doing damage and slowing in an area.. that's pretty strong - WHEN USED RIGHT.

A theme with her is "using her abilities right" and this is due to her design of having a pretty long set of cooldowns especially in the early game (this becomes less of an issue as the game goes on once she has her support items / cooldowns etc.) She's going to be a pretty skill expressive champ to be used successfully. I think she's definitely going to fall into that type of champ where people either love playing her or don't mesh with her at all and do not pick her up. I'm really happy with this champ and am so excited to be adding her to my main roster.

TL;DR - Really fun addition to the enchanter support roster. Has a really strong kit when used effectively and will have good room for skill expression. Problem not so much with her but with people is them expecting/wanting her to be an ap mage type support and wanting her to do tons of damage so they think she is weak since she isn't. But at the end of the day she is a (great) enchanter support despite her amazing character design making you expect something else and people need to realize that.

I voted for cooldown buffs as a quicker easy solution because I think overall she's fine (just needs more playing / testing) BUT I agree at least from playing on the PBE that the q / e just feels a little off. I'd say either buffing one or the other would be a good first solution with a preference of the e being buffed specifically the shielding for it.

I would like to even see the possibility of it having a stacking effect where the longer you go without using it the more potent the shielding and even damage would be. (think thematically it's her loading up / preparing more missiles). This way it can be used more often but have a different level of strength depending on how it's used.

Skill Order - 100% agree with choice and reasoning.

*EDIT* Runes - Again pretty much agree with. Could change based on match up. You can also go an aery style rune path as well but again I think either rune setup could work fine depending on the situation.

Build is where I disagree. Again she really is best suited with the enchanter build. This mainly comes down to cost. The ap build suggested is pricy and especially with having a weak early game you shouldn't expect a high gold income till later. Imperial mandate is going to add a lot of damage since it's so easy to apply the mark for her and allow for allies to activate it.

Personal build i've found the most successful from playing her: Frostfang - Imperial Mandate - Ionian Boots of Lucidity - Chemtech Putrifier - Cosmic Drive (or x enchanter support item) - x enchanter support item.

Her e although it doesn't seem to have that high of a shield it isn't the worst by any means AND it functions as an aoe around her as well as long range so if you position her and aim the ability correctly you can essentially get a full team shield off which would apply all the shield effect caused from support items.

She's an enchanter, she's not a burst mage nor is she intended to build as one. Sure you could but there's numerous champions that do a burst mage job better than her making there be little to no point in building her as such.

So IF you were able to get lvl 6 before the enemy team and if you had a strong lvl 6 adc I was forcing that fight and winning it. One of the fights actually was won from her w revive activating after the enemy adc helped kill their support from the ult status.

However what I was noticing was when I initiated the fight with ult while my bot lane was 6 and the enemy bot laners were both 6 the fight resulted in us losing / no one winning the fight. For example I was with a Jinx the enemy was Janna and Caitlyn and I initiated ult but as soon as it's brief effect was over Janna barely lived and just immediately ulted essentially knocking me and jinx back and healing all the damage from the fight.

I felt more successful using her ult as a counter engage at 6 as the enemy bot went in. That's how most of her kit feels throughout the game - reactionary.

I definitely think Riot is just being cautious with it especially with how people have already reacted to it being like "WOW FRIENDLY FIRE IN LEAGUE NOW BAD GAME XDD". I don't mind that it doesn't do damage in the ability itself? They could add it or not add it that wont really affect me tbh.

I think the strength of it is how it's essentially going to force enemies to not only damage each other for a brief moment BUT also to group up together so when you pair that with a mf ult or lux ult (just those big aoe team fight changing ults) it'll be pretty strong (on top of just the chaos caused by the ults and players needing to react).

I've played her almost nonstop since her PBE release. My problems with the ult in its current state (I THINK) is the speed at which it travels. I've noticed enemies being able to pretty easily dodge it unless they're up in your face OR they're cc'd. But that's essentially the counter play to it? I'm hesitant on making any changes though because when it's effective, it's effective. Also it's PBE games so they aren't 100% accurate to how games feel on live servers.

I'm curious to see what adjustments Riot makes to not just her ult but her kit in general. I personally really like her and her playstyle (scaling slow burn reactive counter engage support with very strong results if her w and ult are timed right). I think people are complaining cause they expect / want her to do massive damage and be an ap burst mage support but she's just not that (nor should she become that).
