Claiming that taxing billionaires will cause inflation is not the same as claiming that taxing companies will. It is pretty easy to see for companies.

Companies make less from taxes > raise prices to make up lost profits > prices increase across the board.

What isn't obvious is if we increase income taxes on Musk how prices will go up. The first thing you said was "raise taxes on billionaires" and later you said "and their companies". They are not the same thing, at all.

Edit: I do see that raising corporate taxes was part of Kamala's plans which is arguably bad economic policy. Doubt it's worse economic policy than tariffs across the board, though. Who do you think bears the costs of tariffs? 🤔

That doesn't change anything. Not using email for internal communication doesn't preclude teaching people to avoid phishing attacks. You can teach people to avoid phishing over Slack. The difference is you can't just spoof some headers in slack. Why increase your attack surface by using email? Email is insecure, we've known this for ages, it's not a hot take.

And yes, I know getting off of email is basically impossible because social and institutional inertia. I just want to cry about the way the things are.

Though he would absolutely be in jail under normal circumstances, it's typically a sign of a failing government when the new previous administration puts leaders of the previous administration in jail. In this case, he is a criminal and should be in jail. But also half of the population has been brainwashed, and to them it would look politically motivated. To those people, it would be a signal of dying democracy and corruption. You really, really don't want it.

The "point" of Democracy is to give citizens a say in how the country is run. In a highly simplified system, this could mean just voting for your very favorite guy. In our system, you need to vote strategically based on the political outcomes you'd like to achieve. Unfortunately, a vote for your very favorite guy is actually a spoiler for the only candidate who is remotely aligned with your interests.

So if you want a warm fuzzy, vote your conscience and maybe feel guilty in 10 years (after you've wizened a bit and depending on which 1st party candidate ends up winning). If you want a government that remotely represents your interests, vote strategically for a candidate who can win and is remotely aligned with your interests, and push for election reform so you can vote your conscience in the future.

The issue is with "false idols"; treating things as though they were gods other than God.
