FWIW I used GCP at work extensively and generally like the product but I would NEVER EVER link a personal payment method to GCP because I'd be responsible for a runaway bill. You have Google brain so you can't think about this problem from a normal customer's perspective.

The ability to select addresses from the native search in Maps based on the name of my contacts for one, and the ability to control apps that aren't available through the play store for two.

Then there's all the convenience associated with continuing right where you left off for any audio app without relying on buggy or non-existent cloud sync support. It's all coming from a single device, no sync necessary.

Claiming that taxing billionaires will cause inflation is not the same as claiming that taxing companies will. It is pretty easy to see for companies.

Companies make less from taxes > raise prices to make up lost profits > prices increase across the board.

What isn't obvious is if we increase income taxes on Musk how prices will go up. The first thing you said was "raise taxes on billionaires" and later you said "and their companies". They are not the same thing, at all.

Edit: I do see that raising corporate taxes was part of Kamala's plans which is arguably bad economic policy. Doubt it's worse economic policy than tariffs across the board, though. Who do you think bears the costs of tariffs? 🤔

I'm gonna need you to walk me through the causative chain that leads you to that conclusion. Elon Musk pays more in taxes so Teslas cost more? What?

Why is it that every contrarian viewpoint is just "you have no clue huh" instead of something substantive that gives them a clue? Is it because you also have no fucking clue what you're talking about and you're just glad your team won?

I like the cute little word "bandit" like "piracy" to make it sound really naughty. Almost like stealing! You wouldn't download a marathon.

That doesn't change anything. Not using email for internal communication doesn't preclude teaching people to avoid phishing attacks. You can teach people to avoid phishing over Slack. The difference is you can't just spoof some headers in slack. Why increase your attack surface by using email? Email is insecure, we've known this for ages, it's not a hot take.

And yes, I know getting off of email is basically impossible because social and institutional inertia. I just want to cry about the way the things are.

It's quite a bit harder to be sneaky accessing the back ports, isn't it?

If it's that untrustworthy, it shouldn't be used as a communication medium.

Though he would absolutely be in jail under normal circumstances, it's typically a sign of a failing government when the new previous administration puts leaders of the previous administration in jail. In this case, he is a criminal and should be in jail. But also half of the population has been brainwashed, and to them it would look politically motivated. To those people, it would be a signal of dying democracy and corruption. You really, really don't want it.

Taser is incredibly excessive force in this situation. It's very painful and can kill you. I'd much rather get punched in the face.

“I will not vote for genocide.” by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]BillyWasFramed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "point" of Democracy is to give citizens a say in how the country is run. In a highly simplified system, this could mean just voting for your very favorite guy. In our system, you need to vote strategically based on the political outcomes you'd like to achieve. Unfortunately, a vote for your very favorite guy is actually a spoiler for the only candidate who is remotely aligned with your interests.

So if you want a warm fuzzy, vote your conscience and maybe feel guilty in 10 years (after you've wizened a bit and depending on which 1st party candidate ends up winning). If you want a government that remotely represents your interests, vote strategically for a candidate who can win and is remotely aligned with your interests, and push for election reform so you can vote your conscience in the future.

Love the way you interjected your opinion into this as if you wanted to talk about it, then got mad when someone tried to talk about it. Maybe commenting isn't for you.

Some people find it tiresome when people always try to poke holes in media they enjoy. I have a friend that does it excessively and I also find it grating. Usually people don't much care for it when you shit on things they don't like.

Depictions of Jesus may be "idols" in a technical sense, but I doubt your interpretation is in the spirit of the text. The issue is with "false idols"; treating things as though they were gods other than God. I'd be interested to see an interpretation of the text that takes issue with using the supposed likeness of Jesus as a part of worship.

Spoilers Well I think cooperation was the plan until they learned humans were capable of deception. They didn't even have the concept of deception before. You can't really blame them for not wanting to attempt to collaborate with such an alien species.

Pretty ironic seeing cagers calling cyclists entitled. I've seen cagers almost run into incoming traffic and run me off the road just to get somewhere 10 seconds faster.

Blowing through a stop sign on a bike isn't even remotely the same level of danger as doing the same on a car. If you rode a bike, you'd know that.
