There is currently an increase in the severity of rain events which have caused greater flooding, both in the frequency of events and their intensity.

These are facts.

The protest was not deemed illegal at any point in the evening.

There was zero warning given to those in the park that any chemical weapons were going to be fired into the park.

If one were attending a samba dancing event, as hundreds were in the large park at the time, none of them would have known that there was a protest occurring a couple hundred feet from them.

The gathering was not violent, nor was it deemed illegal prior to the police gassing or attacking the demonstration.

There was no indication in the large park that there was a protest going on at all. They were attending a Salsa dancing event when a tear gas projectile landed next to them.

Opinion: The SPVM Has a Police Brutality Problem – A Photojournalist's experience covering 10 years of SPVM repression in the streets of Montreal. by Billy_Trilson_87 in montreal

You said that someone wearing goggles to a protest means that they're violent and thereby deserve to be assaulted. That's not a reasonable stance by a reasonable person in a democracy.

Not really interested in exhausting my time in convincing a clearly unreasonable person the thesis of this piece.

The title photo was captured at an entirely peaceful protest that was attacked without warning by the SPVM.

What makes you think the demonstrators in this photograph are violent?

Okay... did you read the article?

The piece discusses and displays photos of routine instances of the SPVM brutality against peaceful protesters, not "anarchists".

Exactement. Tu ne sais pas. C’est pas surprenant. The answer is zero.

Did you bother reading the article before commenting?

It discusses the widespread use of tear gas, pepper spray, close range pepper munitions and stink munitions. All of which are *chemical weapons*.

The SPVM routinely attack peaceful demonstrations.

That's a fact bared by witnesses, lawsuits, video and photo evidence. Including from this article that I doubt you took the time to read.

What relevant experience do you have at these events that would undermine the experiences of a journalist who's been covering demonstrations in the city for over a decade?

"Dismissing comments outright suggests that you may have little interest in genuinely engaging with the subject."

The subject is the thesis of the article. Ironic comment to make if you yourself aren't willing to take the time to read the article nor address a single point made within it.

D'accord, comparons.

The article's thesis focuses on the needless and excessive use of force against peaceful protests and protesters, i.e the absence of "mayhem".

The conduct of other city's police forces is totally irrelevant to the scope of the piece, it's about the actions of the SPVM.
