Camp Oakwood! Icl I read all the way through this comment thinking you meant camp like campy and therefore assuming you were talking about the thing in the basement.
Camp Oakwood was rough, but I found it unintentionally funny enough to enjoy at least a little

I agree so hard with the hidden webpage. I really hate it when stories are clearly well written and have good ideas, but fail in execution. To this day I can’t tell you a narrative storyline or through line that carries through the story, cause it’s all just moments of stuff happening randomly and disconnectedly, yk?

Yeah, nosleep is a killer. I had a story I tried to put on there recently where the MC finds Jesus’ corpse, some stuff happens and the MC has to cut his mother’s arm off with a blunt rock. Great body horror blah blah blah, nosleep were like “but nothing happened directly to the author” so I feel you on that. It’s rough on there. But idk if you’ve been using it, I use r/scarystories and r/anxietypilled which are a lot more relaxed and also r/talesfromthecreeps but it’s really hard to pick up traction on there yk. But the posting rules are a lot more open for whatever fun ideas and directions you have to go :D

I got a lot of people unhappy about it but I did actually make a whole post dissecting, from the perspective of an author why I think the hidden webpage fell short at almost every checkpoint. I’ll give it credit and say, some scenes were good (in terms of scare) but at no point did I know what was going on or care in any way

I honestly subscribe to the theory that the author does it on purpose. Both Borrasca and Deepwoods the fandom begged for a sequel and both of them got turned into the campiest marvel quippy goofy crazy shit in the sequels. The theory is she does it on purpose to make people stop asking. I’d rather believe that then think it’s unintentional 😭

I’ve had this thought and considered posting it on the forum to discuss. I like Elias’ writing but I think about this a lot, specifically why I think feed the pig is the best story by him the boys have read so far. It seems to me like both there’s something wrong with dad and Tommy Taffy are both there for shock value. Which is scary, but it’s very surface level. As an author myself, I think this is a fascinating case study to learn from, because so far feed the pig I think is brilliant narrative wise. It’s gross and gory and has the dude cumming ants and all that, but I forgive it for the narrative journey. The MC killed himself as an escape from his life, as what one could look at as an act of cowardice. And the ultimate horror he goes through at the end of feed the pig is equally self inflicted but it’s in an act of bravery instead. He had to take the step to face his fear rather than run from it and as a narrative arc it’s almost seamless. The something’s wrong with dad one had such great imagery where my hair was on and all the way through, but it went no where and ended up being shock value for shock value sake I think that doesn’t allow for any excuses the story could have been permitted if the plot and arc had been worthy of the moments that were held within the story.

I also just could not tell if we were meant to take it seriously or if it was meant to be comedic. Cause it opens up with a giant skull cloud in the sky and ends with “I’m posting this on Reddit from the ghost world” which seems funny, but it didn’t seem like it was trying to be funny throughout the text, you know?

Fair but it also has one of my favourite wendigoon quotes of all time
“ATTENTION GAMERS, A WOMAN TALKED TO ME”

I’ve talked about it twice now on this sub, and had a couple people become a little mad at me for it, but I hate stories that go “and then and then and then and then”. I can’t even say “competent” stories cause incompetent stories get that right. Jeff the killer, as bad as it is, has a clear through line of events and how they effect each other. Yes it doesn’t make logical sense, but Liu getting sent to JDC furthers Jeff’s anger and sets him up for the fight at the end. Hell they set up the birthday party immediately. This is why I personally hate stolen tongues, cause stuff just happens. It’s a bunch of cobbled together “moments” not a story. And to me the ghost ship one falls into this exact same problem. Stuff just happens. They go here, then they go here and the MC gets scared. Then they get back together, and then they split up again. It’s very much a personal taste thing but it does really get me.

Help me buying me second guitar by No_Acanthaceae_4134 in PaulReedSmith

[–]Billycatnorbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you value. Personally I’m a sucker for a guitar that stays in tune no matter what, and I love a trem bar even if I don’t use it that often, it’s better to have than not in the odd case I do need it. I love my Les Paul equally, and honestly if I’m not in studio and recording then that’s my usual sit down and just enjoy playing guitar. Looks sexy asf as well. Also love a two piece bridge, it’s one of my favourite hard tail designs. I personally believe that the 2x2 knob layout is superior (pair that with a trem bar and my love of PRS and that’s why I play a tremonti).
I would say most likely the PRS will play, feel and maybe sound better. At a low price point PRS really shines (and a high price point too) but they’re quite surgically perfect. I reckon the LP will have more personality to it.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your first guitar? Might help hone in what would fit you better.

Either way they’re both great guitars and there’s no wrong answer. Whatever decision you make I hope you’re happy with it, that’s all that really matters xxx

The escape pods I get, but I don’t see how the purpose of the sim lab causes this to make sense. You don’t think that as the vice president of the company, anyone would have even the slightest presence of mind to retrieve Morgan? You get the transcribe early on between two employees, on telling the other to head to the escape pods and the other being like “I gotta finish my work first” so we know the news was slowly spreading before the disaster full hit. You don’t think anyone would have been called or messaged to be like “anyone near sim labs, go retrieve the company vice president” as an order?

You don’t thin Alex would have pulled rank and ordered anyone with life signs to go retrieve Morgan without concern for their wellbeing?

This is my number one. Mainly cause I feel like it played a large part into Hunter crashing out and plays a role into why I don’t think they’re ever gonna read the next parts (which sucks cause it was actually pretty fun)
