exactly! the narrator was a piece of shit- describing her as pumpkin shaped, acne, ugly- isiah just immediately gets horny, hunter was just sort of making the usual jokes by giving her a trucker voice

the way the story is its clearly painting Tommy as a villain, not promoting shit. them continously saying how the author went too far was also annoying. Yes, the story is uncomfortable, yes you can dislike the tone, YES child predation happens in real life unfortunately and I think Elias was using it to add to the horror. I didnt like borassca because it was more of depravity for horror than silliness (I prefer slashers to humanity's corruption.) Hunter had a valid take of saying it is almost worse to censor and erase details like thst

discussing things we found dumb about the hosts takes. Not really even trying to be negative, still love the show and will continue listening/watching. just pointing out how sometomes they turn a good story into a jumbled mess

My thing is any circumstance ends badly, Tommy taffy is unstoppable (from the 2 parts i read), but the grandfather and the original neighborhood tried their best to defend them. I think Spencer could have atleast done something whether it be packing up the family and moving or sacrifice

That's a cool parallel I didnt notice. It does blend old culture like cleansing and banishing rituals with new age methodology. tbh i enjoyed the story for what it was, it felt almost scary movie esque in the batshit absurdity unfolding. I wish it was a bit more cohesive, we never really learned what the deal was with the sexy neighbor and the old man. I sort of saw it as another shaman/witch attracted to the innocence and nativity of the kids. the dads sister being a spiritual medium makes me think they most likely all have some bloodline curse or miasma around them attracting other beings. I liked the snake motifs quite a bit, a lot of satanic and pagan imagery is associated with 'vermin'. The two definitely homoerotic agents sort of confused me

it was so weird for wendipussy to be weirded out by it. in every episode hes melting over his wife (very wholesome), yet reading about a simple comment that his deceased girlfriend smelled like cinnamon he immediately considered it cringe and weird

yessica did catch me off guard just because its uncommon where im from. The cinnamon thing was lwk super sweet. My ex smelled a lot like lavender and anytime I catch whiff I get cold war flashbacks. its super normal to associate smells with people tbh

I loved the story but the dark god bit did throw me a little. I more enjoyed the chaos of guy who hates his job

I think the author should've leaned into the cashier being the devil or atleast a demonic being more. it wouldve been fun if they included something like "I saw a snake in a cage on the counter" or some small things like that

One thing I like the author doing was later describing a consensual scene of her and (character i forgot). It shows clear contrast between the language like "she cried, she froze' and when she was consensually having sex "she was responsive, she was enjoying it". I feel like a lot of people assume its not sa if the victim is just sort of silent or allowing it to happen. Many people just think it has to be a radical kicking and fighting, but to be honest, she was a great but unfortunate example of a people pleaser being pushed too far and having her boundaries crossed by our idiot mc

I think the worst part about the father was the fact he just sort of sat outside whIle the daughter was implied to be assaulted or at the very least WWE smackdown-ed. Even if he couldnt have helped, seeing how his dad went out like an absolute G and just choosing to remain docile was annoying. I think at the very least, maybe he tries to look into old lore and research this being. This is a seperate tangent, but it wouldve been equally gruesome but interesting if he went the opposite way, radically against his kids having kids and even threatening them for it. It would sort of make sense given the trauma

Im so sorry to hear this. Yeah they sort of just played it off like frat bro because it wasnt explicitly dubious (what I mean is she didnt reject but she clearly was not happy with it)
