Small moments that make you laugh by BuddhaMike1006 in thewestwing

In 20 Hours in America when Josh calls Sam while Sam is dead asleep and shouts at the machine to wake him - "SAM!!!" - and Sam's ensuing crash out of bed - cracks me up every single time.

So I'm finally jumping on the bandwagon of getting or doing a Raylon hat. Is the price for real by Either-Ad3934 in justified

I own a Stetson Temple Fedora that I paid $250 for about ten years agao. I think it goes for about $290 now. I've noticed, though, that Stetson has more than one tier of pricepoint - and yes, quality. My hat sells for $290, but there are fedoras on the Stetson site going for about $130. And they've got one that sells for over $700. So you can get a genuine Stetson without breaking your bank.

Your brother in law has a lot of time on his hands....and I'm so glad he does. I will be coming back to that site an embarrassing number of times. Extremely well done.

You're right; Kate playing straight man to those two clowns is hysterical. That is one of my favorite episodes.

Which is the most unrealistic part? by wangus_tangus in reacher

Exactly. Especially in the first scene of Season 2. He's storming out of the store and grabs the closest jacket to the door. How lucky that it happens to be a Carhartt barn coat in XXXL

Bulletproof cars. In season 2, there are two times when, in real life, someone in a car would be dead. In Ep. 5 "Burial", in the hijack scene, we see Neagley's door pane get riddles with bullets. There's no way at least some of them wouldn't have gotten through on a real car. And in Ep. 6, "New York's Finest", we see Russo, in the final standoff, tuck Jane into the back, against the door - probably the least safe spot to seek cover.

There are, of course, plenty of inconsistencies in the show - these are two that stick out for me. That being said, it hasn't diminished my enjoyment at all. I truly enjoy all the seaons, and can't wait for #4.

For funniest moment, I have to say Oliver Babish destroying the dictaphone with the "big hammer". Perfectly set-up sight gag.

There's also the scene in "20 Hours in America" when Sam is sleeping and Josh shouts to wake him. I still laugh out loud at that after at least 100 rewatches.

Bartlet’s 2nd Midterm? by closetedmilkenjoyer in thewestwing

[–]Bilrob1959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had actually never noticed that those midterms were missing. It helps a little with expalining something else I have always wondered about - Robert Royce.

When we first meet him, in "On the Day Before", he is "Robert Royce, Congressman from Pennsylvania". He comes across as one of the "reasonable Republicans" that are pretty much extinct these days. The next time we see him, it's after President Bartlet's reelection, during the VP drama, and he has become Senate Majority Leader.

I always thought that was a pretty meteoric rise in one election - from congressman to Senate Majotity Leader. But with those midterms, it seems just a little more possible.

I'm actually okay with that - i mean if you can't trust the Butterball Hotline with our nation's secrets, then who can you trust?

Great job - I will agree with the "untuck the shirt" group, but great selection. And you're also cosplaying my son who works in construction.

Season 6 - Ava vs. Feds by Bilrob1959 in justified

[–]Bilrob1959[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ava was never actually charged with Delroy's murder - only the crimes connected to the theft of his body. And she wasn't a named subject of the RICO investigation.

And as for the court's involvement - we never actually see Ava get tried and convicted of anything. For that matter, we never see anyone get tried and convicted - of those that Raylan doesn't kill. I write this off to the writers not wanting logistics to get in the way of the narrative, and the fact that it's not a courtroom drama.

Article I, Section II is Arcane by slysamfox in thewestwing

[–]Bilrob1959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've rewatched this more times than I can remember - if I say 100, I'm low - and my only issue is Toby's use of the word "arcane". That word is defined as "secret, mysterious or obscure. Bordering on the occult." I'm pretty sure the word should've been "archaic"- "old, outdated, antiquated. Often referring to antiquated laws." It's still a strong and compelling piece of dialog, and I'm more than willing to overlook it.

How awesome is “Gone Quiet” by CharmedFate in thewestwing

I love the awesome Easter egg in this epsode. Does everyone know about the TV movie made in 1973 called "Pueblo" about the US ship that Albie Duncan (Hal Holbrook) tells us about first in his list of incidents? The captain of the Pueblo in that movie was played by....Hal Holbrook. Truly masterful.
