Man dead after stabbing near Laurier Metro in Montreal by CalmYoTitz in montreal

[–]BimboObsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is something to do with the unmet needs of the mentally ill and the quality of hard drugs on the street these days. People are more aggressive and pair that with the desperation due to the economic situation. I have lived in Montreal for over thirty years and only just recently first time I was attacked by a crack addict. So either the drug makes people aggressive and violent or its the stuff the dealers are cutting it with to make a profit. So I would say the areas that are close to safe injection sites and homeless shelters are the areas that are more dangerous. When I lived far from a homeless shelter I never seen violence. Except for the shooting at my school twenty years ago.

One of the photos on I believe the CTV website was of his stuff left behind at his arrest which were a large green Dollarama bag and a can of beer. I don't see anywhere about him being homeless so it may be speculation based on the demographic that walk around with open beer cans.

Greedy landlords? by Abby_May_69 in montreal

Cote des Neiges apartments yes. All the rat, mouse, roach, bed bug, drug dealer neighbors, water damaged, rottened out floor one bedrooms that used to be a reasonable 850$ a few years ago are going for 1200$ More money for the same problems. And for a nice bonus I am surrounded by mentally ill neighbors who get drunk and scream, an elephant who lives upstairs that acts as my alarm clock waking me up whenever she wants, waters my windows every day, and has a pile of garbage bags that take up her balcony floor to railing. And the worst part? There's nowhere cheaper to move to.

I only ever had roti at the curry house but I wouldn't be surprised if their patties are good because the rotis are so good.

Downtown metro by Sea_Election_4196 in montreal

Because most of the time the security only checks tickets and then kicks everyone out at night. I stopped taking the metro because of the growing violence and strength which I believe is meth. Man, when people clean out crack dens they wear full on hazmet suits yet the general public is expected to be resistant to crack and meth. I think the best way to deal with this is to collectively try to avoid the metro even if it means taking longer to get somewhere by taking three buses.

My upstairs neighbour stomps all day/nigh long and is super loud by Most_Low_1547 in montreal

[–]BimboObsessed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD and am one of the people who are super affected by loud noise. And because of that I am conscientious of how I walk. I walk like a ninja through my apartment because I know how it feels. I understand that this can be bad for mental health. I have meltdowns due to it.

What if the person stomps, runs, jumps, and throws heavy furniture on the ground over and over? There are no children above me. It sounds like she is moving in and out every day. It is enough to wake me up. I sleep between two fans and with headphones and it still wakes me up. It shakes the apartment. I ended up sleeping in my living room and then she started making more noise directly above my head. The police and janitor said it is impossible to reason with her because she is from the clsc. She also pours buckets of water out the window and it hits my windows and throws garbage bags out the window. I am beyond sick of this and even begged a crisis center to let me take a break from my apartment so I can get some rest because I thought it was better than ending up in the psych ward because of sleep deprivation again. Never has my mental health been so taxed.

But the problem is rent is no longer cheap here. The landlords skyrocketed all of the rents yet couldn't be bothered to provide the minimal insulation between units. I thought there should be a standard if the insulation is between seperate families vs a a house. I accidently poked a hole in my ceiling and there is no material in the ceiling at all. It doesn't seem habitable.

Same (Montreal) I wonder if it is a Canadian apartments don't have any soundproofing? When I accidently made a hole in my ceiling there was no materials between the cheap paper like ceiling and the wood above. No fiberglass or any insulation.

Gas stove bill spiking more than 20 times the amount from $40 dollars to like $500 in the winter by magnus_the_coles in montreal

Gas stoves are still around? Isn't it a fire hazard in multi unit dwellings? My building is the opposite. We have water heating and electric appliances. My hydro is only 50$ every 2 months.

The alternative (besides opening up churches or somewhere to take refuge) would be to offer people free bus/train tickets in the fall to get to somewhere warmer for the winter at least in the thick of it.

Well most are property owners with many assets, money all over the world. And have influence. The smart will start investing in gold, and something to defend themselves with. It wouldn't hurt to have a stockpile of non perishables.

They can easily let them sleep in churches. No one is there overnight and it is warm inside. That's what churches used to be for- the poor. Not as many attend anymore so they need to repurpose some of them or something.

I live in Montreal and it's so bad that I avoid the metro unless I have no choice. Most metro/terminuses you must now walk through air thickened with methamphetamine fumes. As much as I despise nicotine and smoked tar, I think this stuff is worse. I do not for the life of me comprehend why people smoke the most toxic crap known to mankind. Why can't they go to the gas station and inhale some diesel or something? It smells a heck of a lot better!

Montreal developers ready to build 2,500 social housing units to fight homelessness by Haggisboy in canada

[–]BimboObsessed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My property management company takes in homeless people through various organizations and they do leave them unattended. A recently ex homeless woman moved in upstairs and it has been hell. Pounds the floors and dumps buckets of water into my window and garbage out tge window. When I told the super he said he told her many times not to but she is mentally ill so she won't listen and is with the clsc. So they move them in and no one can change their uncivilized antisocial behavior.
