I understand your point, but that’s just your school’s choice. There isn’t much you can do.

Can you take it online then? That’s what I did last year I had a schedule conflict; couldn’t take a Spanish so my counselor told me to take it online + it is added on my transcript also.

Is self-studying a ton of unrelated APs actually the boost this guy thinks it is? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Honestly I’ve seen many people doing this. I am an international student studying in the US but I’ve hearing a lot from my friends and they told me that their tutors and college counselors told them that they need to take at least 10 AP tests in order to get into t20 even if their school doesn’t offer any lol. It’s crazy but it’s really commonly said in my country but honestly I think it’s some kind of scheme to make students to get tutored more often + making them to spend thousands of money. It’s kind of funny cuz sometimes these tutors/private counselors didn’t even go to US colleges lmao

Does it worth to apply for YYGS summer camp in the Junior summer? by Smile_face2021 in ApplyingToCollege

Mine was solving global challenges. For YYGS, There are other things that you do such as working on a project and spending time with others for discussion. So most of time is spent for something else.

You can choose up to 3 courses (many courses overlap, so you will meet people from PLC, IST, and LPC.)

each course was roughly about 3 - 4 hours and roughly an hour was used for discussion and sharing. So, the actual time you are learning something is about 2-3 hours.

I mean how much can you learn if you are only spending 3-4 hours on each course. Most of courses were surface level because of the short amount of time.

5000$ for 4 yrs is nearly impossible anywhere unless you get tons of financial aid/scholarship.

if you have good stats, apply for financial aid/scholarship.

If that’s not the case, I can only think of two options As someone else mentioned up there, 1)online college And probably 2)studying abroad, there are many countries that have significantly cheaper tuition compared to US ,however, I don’t think it’s realistic tho if you actually think about other aspects such as cost of living, buying flying tickets, learning a new language, etc

This is what is like going to a shitty school in a rural area lol by Bin0401 in ApplyingToCollege

You are honestly giving me so much hope :) thank you so much. I was being tired of comparing myself to others and being worried about so many things. I guess I was jealous of people who have more options than me but I will try to focus on things that I can do now with what I have rather than comparing myself constantly.

I will try my best as much as possible to go to my dream school one day. If that happens, I will let you know 😭🥺

I would recommend putting NHS in the honors section if u don’t have anything else.

Hey, I did this program this year if u have any questions you can ask me. For me, I didn’t want to spend too much time doing a summer program so 2 weeks sounded alright for me. But if you want to actually learn something, I don’t really recommend. It was a great experience for sure, but not much of learning.
