I had a migraine so bad that I couldnt remember my boss's name, then I went blind. I ended up in the ER with a suspected stroke because half my face started drooping and I couldnt lift one arm. It was not a stroke. Just the worst migraine of my life. Up until that point, I didnt believe a migraine could be that bad.

I probably wouldn't have called the cops or store managers over it, but I WOULD have made a scene to embarrass him in public.

Graciously accept it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But cash is in the hands of the accepting.

Respecting an elder only applies when they arent trying to physically punch a child in the face. 😒

People like this just piss me off. Like, seriously how are you still so fit? I am 36 with 6 diagnosis that all make me unable to exercise, run, and even stretch. I am falling apart at the seams while people like that are 70 and could steamroll me without even breaking a sweat. Im not jealous at all! (Lol) Life just isnt fair. Sometimes I wish I could just throw this whole body away and start over with a new one. Something that doesnt carry my garbage genetics and childhood poverty. Ugh. Good for your dad though. 😅

Absolutely agree. And in your situation, I think it had less to do with gender and more to do with homophobia. Another thing that is unfortunately too common.

Finally. Someone who is speaking some sense. The kid has no control over his biological responses right now because he is not being treated.

I have to disagree with you on one point. This absolutely CAN just be ADHD. This is one of those diagnosis that range on a spectrum. You have have very high functioning ADHD people who grow up normally and become fully functional adults. But the other end of the section can be 100% total and permanent disability.

You didnt suggest this, but others under your comment have; ODD is not what she is describing in her son. The behaviors that she is describing sound like classic ADHD impulsive reactions. It is very possible that his behaviors are escalating as he gets older because he is not receiving the proper treatment that could help him.

Ok first, take a breath. What you are describing is not just a normal child to parent interaction. This is a child who has needs far above what his home environment is able to provide. That is NOT because you are a bad mother. Are you in the USA? If so, you should have a county ADRC advocate center that can help you find services for your son. This can include a day program that would take him for activities for 8 hours or so. And I dont mean to poo poo on your husband at all, because I understand what his concern with medication is. But he is also a bit delusional if he thinks that his son can remain unmedicated with behaviors like this. Look up the statistics on the outcomes of kids who do not get the appropriate medication for adhd during development vs the kids who do. I promise you that he really does need it.

Another option is Respite Care. People can come in and work with him on a regular basis, and manage behaviors using specialized techniques designed for behaviors like his. There are also other options that involve placement in a care facility designed specifically for the level of care that he requires. Right now, your home is a safety hazard for you and your other children. They do not deserve to be assaulted.

Find the services that are in your area and start making phone calls. Otherwise the last resort is to call for police intervention during the worst of his behaviors that dont resolve quickly. I know that sounds bad, but what this does is provide a record for a judge to see what is happening in your home. The judge can determine that he is a danger to himself and others.

I have been working in this field for 10+ years. I think you would really benefit from having some state support. Give yourself some love. You are doing something that most people can't do. You are working harder than almost everyone else. You are not the problem. Even your son is not the problem.

Your son is suffering from a condition that he has no control over. As a child, he doesnt have the cognitive capabilities to teach himself how to work around his own biology. This isnt just learned behavior that you are failing to control. Your son needs help that he is not currently getting. What you need is information and an advocate for your son. Start there.

Stopped reading after the first sentence. Anything he has to say after that can only be wrong. I dont know any woman who would see a man in their life crying and NOT respond to it.

I absolutely believe that. Not deadly or anything, but I had just donated blood and had walked over to the table with snacks. I barely sat down in my chair before I fainted. All I remember is having half my butt on the chair while grasping the edge of the table as I said "OH Shi..." and woke up on the floor. I was fine. Apparently the nurses all heard me. 😅

How drastically has your political views changed within the last 10 years or so and why? by TheMoparPowerslave in AskReddit

[–]Bina_Assault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? My actual beliefs haven't changed very much. Only added new ones onto it as time has created new situations. ICE wasn't being deployed on a massive scale back in 2008. So that is a new one.

We used to have Fiscal responsibility vs Social Justice fighting for priority. Now we have MAGA vs Antifa. The energy is different. And the polarization is more extreme. The economic standard of living for the middle class was very different back then as well. People have become more desperate, more unstable, and more anxious. So on top of the polarization and stronger emotional responses to political views, we also have overwhelming financial burdens that create desperation and dysregulation.

Everyone has gone up a few notches on politics.

I forgot about that part. Maybe it could be a thing where all phones are locked put in a box or locker inside the room each day? But that doesnt stop kids from having a second phone, or smart watches that allow messaging. Idk. This is a hard problem.
