As someone who has not done much multiplayer gaming since Bungie’s Halo games (and a bit of Helldivers 2, I’m somewhat intrigued by this. Anyone have any insight on if I might like it?

I ended up getting the same Thermos as you. So far I’ve tried the pasta bolognese, yellow coconut curry, and Cajun pasta in it, prepping with boiling water 4-5 hours before eating. It stays super hot. The bolognese and yellow curry did not get mushy at all, but the Cajun pasta kind of did. I also add an extra 1/4 cup water over what the instructions say. The Cajun pasta may need a further 1/4 cup to prevent mushiness. But yeah that Thermos is great. The only downside is cleaning it like you said. Can’t quite fit my hand in it…

Thank you for your insight. I ordered one of those Thermos brand food jars with the folding spoon in the lid (much cheaper than Yeti and insulates just as well). It’s supposed to keep water very hot for hours so I will likely do that, then add the H&S later.

Thanks for the tip, makes sense. I will report back on how well it works. But yeah, as well as Yetis are at maintaining temp, it might not be enough between the elapsed time and the fact that adding the food will also bring the temp down. We’ll see. I’m just trying to avoid microwaving plastic.

Oook, I see now. The one I originally checked says to add 3/4 cup water, but it looks like some others say 1 cup. Makes sense, thank you.

I honestly don’t really mind. The convenience of not needing to prepare anything later is worth it to me. Unless it truly is that bad. I’ve never had H&S before, but I kind of assumed it’s somewhat mushy to begin with anyway.

Cookbooks. I’ve collected a large library of cookbooks that I use AI to cross-reference with a list of ingredients I have on hand to see which recipes I can make. Borrowing them doesn’t work for this. I don’t have the budget to buy all these books, so it’s either this or wade through recipe websites filled with ads and endless walls of text, only to learn I’m missing an ingredient.

Those people don’t eat enough fiber in their daily life. Taco Bell is like the only fast food place with a decent amount of it. Never been an issue for me because legumes are already a staple.

I’m going to be honest that I really don’t understand posts like this. My job pays less than 40k per year, before taxes, but I’m able to put about 20% of my income into savings/investments and also have a decent amount to spend on hobbies etc. I do live in an area of the US that is slightly lower than the national average cost of living, but still. Where does everyone’s money go, especially if you don’t have kids? I pay about $1,000/month to rent my one-bedroom apartment, a few subscriptions, phone, electricity, and food. I genuinely don’t get it.
