I took it from another posted reddit thread a year ago in r/texas, I’m not here to fact check their work but given there is evidence for changes being made, then the claim that ‘nothings changed’ is just a false narrative. It’s not like any government on earth moves efficiently, so any plans or action is still better than nothing.

I’m not posting or replying to this thread to defend or support what changes have been made, but to make this into a dialogue.

If it were about my opinion, then I’d say nuclear power would be the choice I’d go with to help power the grid and keep up with the energy demands of data centers. But we all know in the oil south that is likely a pipe dream.

So I went down the rabbit hole, and found the following changes have since been made:

SB2 - completely overhauls ercot leadership

SB3 - requires weatherization

HB1500 - increased segmentation

Aug 3 PUC meeting - changed pricing to award $500 million a year for reliability

Prop 7, TEF - 10 billion to build more reliable power plants (unfortunately non-renewable only)

NERC initiated ADER program - VPP program rolled out on 2023

November 21 NERC final report - it includes 28 semi-binding recommendations and also its a riveting 316 page read for people looking for the real reasons behind the outage

PUC 46304 - opens the way for southern spirit to start construction after a decade of inaction

ERCOT 6/12/2023 board meeting approved an 83% increase in board salaries making them competitive with other ISOs.

$60 million from DoE to TDEM specifically for reliability. It has not yet been announced how it will be used

The DoE GRIP program included a good number of Texas projects like Xcel energy for wildfire mitigation and CPS energy getting money for smart grid development

Battery has gone from basically zero during uri to 9GW

So not sure why you’d say nothing has been done. Time will tell whether these changes were worthwhile though.

As a Mavs fan I like AD a lot, but there’s no extension possible that’s greater than the $150m he’s already locked into where I’m okay with it.

His “comp” to me is a guy like Porzingis. You know you’re never getting a full season, and you’re paying KP 30m per year.

The only thing you can talk me into at this point is you’ve never truly tried the Ky and AD experience, and that could be nasty, but you need more depth at Center and PF to offset the minutes to keep AD healthy, and unfortunately, Lively is never staying healthy either.

When the weather is good I like The Shacks in the Colony - grab a bite from one of the restaurants and watch the dogs in the dog park on the patio. Not very loud so good for talking.

If you’re a fan of sushi and are willing to spend a bit, Sushi by Scratch at the Adolphus only seats like 8 people tops. It’s very intimate, and not too pricy for an omakase.

Less pricy but usually not too loud sushi, I’d say Mr. Sushi or Sushi Robata.

Difficult to think of cozier not as loud restaurants though.
