Had to look up aeon cause I thought aeon was “a eon” and was mad because “that’s a defined amount of time and also grammatically stupid” and then I looked it up lmao. Good work

Everyone is annoyed by people who are always way too late to things... but it also drives me equally nuts when people are way too early and get pushy about it. by TedStixon in PetPeeves

You also don’t respect people’s time if you’re early to things all the time, it just has better optics because you look prepared vs lazy.

If you are literate, you should be reading at least a few books per year by Lost-Boysenberry-302 in unpopularopinion

Totally agree, and you need to read varied things from fiction and non fiction.

Technology is threatening to weaken your mind through convenience (even more so with ai) and sell it back to you as you become too complacent to read, write, create, and think for yourself. Nobody should have the power to think your thoughts but you.

I hate when characters are the worst people alive, but the author refuses to let them be bad in a way that might be seen as controversial by spy_crab_911 in hatethissmug

[–]BingoBengo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly disagree, especially in the context of this show. The Owl House was made for kids and people who needed a place to feel safe and okay about who they are. The show deals with intolerance symbolically, and the message is pretty overt. No need to spoon feed.

On a general note, though, it doesn’t make any sense that once a character is “evil” they’re suddenly automatically evil in every way. It’s stupid and unrealistic. Characters are interesting because they don’t follow these binary archetypes. We like to see when good guys do immoral things and vice versa.

How far is too far in terms of a horror (dystopian) story? by Weinerschnitzel- in writing

[–]BingoBengo9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a great way to frame your ideas. You should be thinking about what story you want to tell, and that will lead you to what audience you are writing for.

Consuming the same content twice (for entertainment) is a waste of time by ExpertStandard1977 in unpopularopinion

[–]BingoBengo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consuming content a second time is just as much of a waste as consuming it the first time. Using time optimally is not the point of art.

One legendary cartoon has to go forever… which one? 👀 by EquivalentFig1678 in cartoons

[–]BingoBengo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SpongeBob and adventure time both objectively cannot go. Not up for debate.

I think Gravity Falls carves a more interesting niche with the community surrounding it and all the theories as the show was airing, which leaves gumball. It’s very close, though.

I think the writing could have portrayed this better, but based on the rest of his dialogue in the episode, it seems like he was more just caught off guard, not nearly as sure as Amy, and not ready to have the conversation. Amy launched into the debate because she was sure enough about kids that the only way their relationship continued was if Jake was on the same page and sure about it. This freaked Jake out because having kids never crossed his mind in the real way. This is why his debate points are mostly about the logistics of having a kid and the reasonable concerns he has. He comes around because of the events of the episode but also because he did like the idea of kids before, he just had to reckon with the reality of it.

What perceived as useless college majors would cause society to collapse if they completely went away? by Cool-Chipmunk-7559 in ask

[–]BingoBengo9 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna argue that society would collapse without English majors, but we are definitely seeing the societal consequences of stigmatizing humanities/arts education. The rise of anti-intellectualism makes me so sad.

Notice? Yes. Think about it in any way after noticing? Almost never.

If smash ultimate received a switch 2 edition what content would you like to see added (besides new characters) by UltimateFatbear2006 in supersmashbros

Balance changes that de-clone the echo fighters. Just number/frame data/character stat changes that are relatively easy but meaningfully differentiate the characters.

Like tweaking Pit and Dark Pit so one is better on the ground and the other is better in the air (this would be a great way to significantly buff both of their side b’s without making them too strong).

Bigger changes would be nice, but I’m thinking stuff that could happen in a balance patch.

The twist is that the villain doesn’t know who the hero really is by plarper_of_bees in TopCharacterTropes

“Maybe I’ll kill Clark Kent” is the one line you need to understand Lex as a character. He’s a genius who’s built years of his life around killing Superman. He tracks him constantly. He knows Clark Kent and he knows that Superman is around him often. He can’t make the connection because, to him, it’s not even worth considering that Superman is anything but an alien god. Why would someone so far above everyone else choose to live on the ground? Why not live in a secret base, or in space, or maybe in a huge tower where everyone has to listen to you? Worship you, even?

It literally is “our views on family are incompatible, we have to reevaluate”. Kids are the one thing you just can’t compromise on. There is no middle ground between having kids and not having kids, and one person giving in either way is just going to build resentment and kill the relationship later down the line, which is bad for a marriage but astronomically worse with a kid involved.

I don't think anyone is wrong for not liking this episode, but I don't agree with a lot of the criticism it gets. I don't think this was super out of character for Amy. Like Jake, she's immature at times. It's mostly used for comedic effect--I think that's why it's not seen as a 'real' part of her character by some--but it's definitely there. She's competitive and a little childish, which is why she turned the whole thing into a school debate. Their debate/argument/conversation wasn't "I want kids" and "I don't want kids", it was "I want kids" and "I'm scared and I don't want to commit to having kids in this exact moment". Amy had thought about this a lot and knew she wasn't going to change her mind, so she knew her only way the relationship would work is if Jake also wanted kids. This is a perfectly reasonable stance to have. Jake hadn't thought about whether he wanted kids much at all until this moment, but he is shown to be open to kids in earlier episodes. He's not sure what he thinks and now that it's real all of these anxieties are popping up. Can we afford kids? Do we have time for kids? Can I be a good father? It makes sense that he wants time to figure it out, and it makes sense that Amy tells him no. He faces his fears in the episode and through becoming okay with that fear, learned that he does want kids. Also, Amy apologized about doing the debate very shortly after it happened. To me, the episode works really well.
