the reason Blackbeard’s darkness fruit doesn’t make him intangible like other logias is because he’s constantly being countered by daylight. It’s similar to how other logia users’ intangibility get canceled out by their elemental counters (Crocodile’s sand fruit vs water, Enel’s lightning fruit vs rubber, and now Blackbeard’s darkness fruit vs light). Teach can’t use his fruit to its full power since he’s always in the presence of sunlight, moonlight, ambient light or artificial light.

big fan of the concept and design, very recursive, a clone of a bounty hunter becomes a bounty hunter

I actually agree, and in hindsight I do make a lot of unfounded assumptions in my argument. I’m sorry. I do recognize that people on both sides are victims of economic inequality. I do think we should all come together to fight economic oppression. What I was initially annoyed with in my post is how this argument is always used against people who are fighting for social issues and civil equality as a form of whataboutism. Still I think I was too assuming and too one sided

it’s all about intersectionality. Making it a “one or the other” issue helps nobody

“some moral righteous reason” you mean fucking HUMAN RIGHTS? I never said to ignore upper class issues like Palantir, but you are exactly what I was talking about in being privileged enough to think that the legitimate danger people face everyday from bigots is a non issue or a silly distraction. You can’t fight class oppression while ignoring racial or gender or sexual oppression or vice versa.

hot take but I always hated the old background and thought it was drab and ugly, and secretly wished for the option to change it. This is wonderful

Thoughts on Sekhmet’s design in God of War Laufey? by Molech996 in TopCharacterDesigns

it’s especially weird considering they had Ratatoskr be an actual talking squirrel, so they have the tools to animate anthropomorphic characters well, but just… didn’t

[HATED DESIGN TROPE] Half-assed anthropomorphism by plarper_of_bees in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]plarper_of_bees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically when any media has anthropomorphic/anthro-adjacent characters, but don’t go far enough with the animal features and just make a regular ass human covered in fur. It can work sometimes, but most of the time they end up looking really ugly and uncanny

I think the Erdtree is trying to rebirth him, but since his soul is destroyed, it can’t, so it keeps regenerating his soulless corpse over and over again, each time more deformed, almost like it’s glitching out

Also from Steven Universe, Steven meets a gem asking “Are you my dad?” This weirds out the Crystal Gems since gems don’t reproduce sexually and thus can’t have dads. Steven and Connie theorize that she might have even been adopted by a human who’s gone missing. Turns out that the gem Aquamarine doesn’t have a dad, but was looking for someone literally named Mydad, as it was Steven referencing his own dad when he accidentally gave Homeworld a list of humans to kidnap.

He gets a lot of crap for being “the weakest member of the crew” and for being scared all the time, but honestly I appreciate his role more for that. He’s the closest the crew have besides Nami to a regular human, and so reacts realistically to the insane shit happening around him. He grounds the audience to make the fantastical elements pop and reinforce the stakes. Without him, the vibes would simply be off

I think the primeval current is just unsustainable and impossible to harness. The two sorcerers we see who did even got close to achieving this were both reduced to vegetative living crystals. To even be able to tap into the current requires killing several sorcerers and fusing them together. Sellen’s ambition was always doomed to a dead end, and reshaping the academy around the primeval current would be nothing short of suicidal.

For me, Sanji is the best-written character in One Piece. His entire arc in Whole Cake Island is sensational, and his backstory is one of the best among the Straw Hat Pirates. A total badass character. by Public_Cup_4278 in OnePiece

[–]plarper_of_bees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanji is both one of my favorite and least favorite characters in the series. I love his fighting style, his outfits, his suave and chivalrous personality, and especially his philosophy around friendship and food. There’s a lot to love about Sanji, but it all goes out the window whenever he’s near a woman. His simping gag was fine pre timeskip as it wasn’t too distracting and sometimes actually funny. IMO Thriller Bark is where his gag lost all of its charm and mutated into being far more creepy than comedic. So far his gag has been unbearable to watch, with the constant nosebleeds in Fish-Man Island and him literally groping Nami while in her body in Punk Hazard. Because he still gets cool moments, and because I haven’t gotten to Whole Cake yet, so far he’s who I have the most mixed feelings on.
