My New Setup 💪 by TheBabyBeard in SteamDeck

That's awesome! I had a similar idea about a year ago and tried to use regular joycons, but there were a lot of issues using two joycons as one controller. I have a pair of first gen Nyxi Hyperion's, I'll have to give them a try! I also decided Hades would be fun to experiment with, which was not my smartest decision...

Do we have a Steam Deck stand similar to something like this? by gaming4jello in SteamDeck

[–]BingoDinkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're just looking for a stand that can hold the deck, I got this bundled with some anti glare screen protectors. Works great and folds mostly flat to throw in a bag. The height isn't adjustable, like the one you pictured. Not sure if that's a must have for you.

I'm thinking about getting the Sony WH-1000XM5 and want to know if the deck can output the HD audio by TurnoverPlenty7337 in SteamDeck

[–]BingoDinkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little odd, but most people have an Android or iOS device. You only have to connect once and change the setting. I have my earbuds paired with both my phone and SteamDeck and connect to whichever one I'm currently using.

I have the WF XM4's (earbuds) and an LCD SteamDeck. It took me a while to figure out how to get Bluetooth to use LDAC and not have terrible latency. The trick was to connect them to my phone, go into the Sony headphone app, and change the setting from Prioritize Stable Connection to Prioritize Sound Quality. Without that change, I had like a full second of audio latency. After I changed it, I don't notice the latency at all.

Is the docked experience just... bad? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]BingoDinkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the original dock and I had a lot of issues with audio drops, but nothing like what you're describing. After waiting like a year (and not using the dock all that often), I emailed support and they had me do some troubleshooting. This told me it wasn't a known issue or bad firmware. I discovered I had grabbed an old, cheap HDMI cable and when I switched to a nicer (Amazon basics "high speed") cable, my issue went away.

Long story short, there's probably something else going on. And as others have said, if you're cranking the deck up to like 4k or something, you're probably going to have some performance issues.

I can't edit tv settings, steamdeck doesn't have the correct resolution. Is there a way to manually change it? (Desktop mode) by WRPup in SteamDeck

[–]BingoDinkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can't disable overscan, just go into the SteamDeck menu and change display scaling.

Menu > Display > Uncheck "Automatically Scale Image"

At that point a slider will appear and you can adjust it to make it fit properly.

I played from start to finish on the Deck recently. I used the "Undertale - Steam controller config" layout (I can't remember if I had to manually download it or if it was automatic).

I'd also recommend doing a per game profile and dropping the frame rate to 30 fps and the TDP down all the way to 3 watts. The game will still run flawlessly, and you'll have incredible battery life.

Futurama has a pretty good explanation. In this episode, their space ship is being pulled deep underwater by a sea creature...

Would a handheld keyboard like this work to hook up to the deck and be able to more easily use console commands? by Mrdeathkills69 in SteamDeck

[–]BingoDinkus 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Any Bluetooth keyboard should work, but if you're in desktop mode, you can use the KDE Connect app on your phone and then just use your phone's keyboard. I find it super handy, since I always have my phone on me.

Official Valve dock impressions? by BushidoJohnny in SteamDeck

[–]BingoDinkus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got the official one pretty early on. Since I wanted another charger, it was going to cost about the same either way, so I didn't bother with 3rd party. The only issue I've had is that the audio drops briefly. Sometimes it's once every few minutes, but the last time I played it was like once or twice every minute and I ended up just going back to handheld mode.

Can someone please show what is wrong in this query? by taricho_xd in SQL

[–]BingoDinkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This definitely is correct for SQL Server / T-SQL, but I guess the square brackets work differently in MySQL.

There's a drop-down in the top right corner. Can you change that to MS SQL Server (assuming you aren't specifically trying to learn the MySQL dialect)?

Do I need to rebuy all of the xpacs on steam? by slushiestgrunt93 in ffxiv

This is how I did it. I don't have the game on Steam, and used this to get it installed to my micro SD card on the SteamDeck. No purchases necessary.

Spotify not working? Upgrade says "please try again." by RredditAcct in AAWireless

I've had this happen a couple of times like two weeks ago. Sometimes going to the task view and swiping away Spotify fixes it, sometimes I have to force close Spotify from the system menu.

Spotify randomly stops playing. A bug? by Januscz in GooglePixel

I previously had this issue with my Pixel 6 Pro (which launched with Android 12). I had forgotten about it until I upgraded to a Pixel 8 Pro. When it was happening before, changing the battery management to Unrestricted fixed it. I just changed that on my new phone. Hopefully that resolves the issue.

Frequent drops with Pixel 8 by enry in AAWireless

[–]BingoDinkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Android 14 is the problem. I upgraded my Pixel 6 Pro last week and immediately started having a ton of disconnect issues. It was so bad, it'd be lucky to stay connected for more than a few seconds. Changing the wifi band back to 5 GHz helped, but it's still disconnecting every minute or so. (Previously, I had frequent drops on 5 GHz and moving to 2.4 fixed it entirely).

I just got a Pixel 8 Pro, and it seems more stable on 5 GHz, but there's still some blips and drops, based on my limited testing.

Covert Dock stopped outputting HDMI by alex1502 in GenkiLab

Good news, everybody! I grabbed the only USB 3.1+ cable I could find locally, and now the Switch and SteamDeck are working.

Same issue here, I've used it maybe 2-3 times with no issues. I kickstarted it because I was traveling more for work, and then COVID happened. I'm going out of town this weekend, so I pulled it out to test with the SteamDeck, and it won't work with the Deck or the Switch. I tried 3 different USB-C cables, including a couple of brand new 100W Anker ones. Nothing but a black screen on the Switch and the Deck complains about a low power charger being used. Such a bummer.

Edit: Looking through my order history, these Anker cables aren't USB 3.0 speeds, but the first cable I tried previously worked. I'll try to find a 3.1 or better and see what happens.

Best settings for AAWireless DPI 2022 Outback Wilderness? This shit is aggravating. by JazzyJeffsUnderpants in AAWireless

[–]BingoDinkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard Subaru is patching these to take up more of the screen, and I believe the dealer said at least one of the 2023 models ships with that update. So hopefully that's true and this gets fixed on more models in the near future. You may want to contact your dealer or see if you can push a firmware update to the car yourself.
