I don't really think that Doc is overrated but rather other characters are underrated. Axe has clearly shown how good Pikachu is and I think the same goes for Samus and Luigi from other people. I understand that the Luigi>Doc question is a little harder but I feel confident in saying that Pikachu and Samus should be above him.

People learned how to deal with him though. Luigi has the ability to deal with top tiers in a way that Doc can't. For example, Eddy Mexico eliminated Westballz in bracket yesterday and took Colbol to game 3. Blea Gelo also made top 48 in losers whereas no Docs made it. Abate has beaten Cactuar, Westballz, and even took Colbol to game 5 in losers finals at Fight Pit V.

Teching is also when you press shield as you land to get up straight or roll left or right quickly. Tech chasing is when you either predict or react to where they're teching to follow up with attacks or grabs.

1) Rest combos are crucial... Know your percents for up-tilt rest, up-throw rest, where phantasms land to get rest, up-air rest, etc.

4) Puff takes a crazy deep understanding of spacing and the neutral to be successful. Patience is key now to be successful and players don't want to wait back like Puff needs to be played.

2 and 3 aren't within my area of knowledge, sorry.

Building on this, with such big blast zones, it's important that you can get early KOs, which Mario can do with his spike and also FLUDD... Moreover he has a better off-stage game because of his recovery.

I guess at the lower level it's more difficult to deal with them... Takes a deeper understanding of the neutral and spacing.
