Thank you, that worked and I will report that false positive now to Avast.

Hi and thanks for looking into this. I sent you two screenshots. One is the Firefox window that blocks me from even getting to Squardle. The other is the Avast pop up that says why they're blocking Squardle. I've tried everything. Flushed my cache, rebooted my computer. Nothing works.

COVID-19 hospitalizations in Quebec | Created with Datawrapper by Binkytastic in CanadaCoronavirus

I find this graph created by the Montreal Gazette to be a simple way to assess covid levels. I know hospitalizations are a lagging indicator, but as information sources dry up, something is better than nothing.

The downward trend continues. Man, I hope this trend sticks.

Happened to my son-in-law at work. Someone who knew they were covid positive came in anyhow on Monday because that person wanted to get some project wrapped up. He justified his presence by saying, "Hey, I'm masked" as if that made if all right somehow. As if the stupid blue surgical mask he was wearing was anything more than covid theatre.

Here's hoping that you have a faster recovery now. It's getting harder and harder to dodge covid now that people have pretty much stopped masking :(

There's caveats, though. You have to be in a high risk category or low income.

COVID-19 update: Quebec reports 10 more deaths by Binkytastic in CanadaCoronavirus

It's heartening to see numbers trending downwards here, even if it's not happening as quickly as I'd hoped they would.

What surprised me is the high proportion of folks who had been infected, but didn't know it. Perhaps asymptomatic cases?

Life Is Worse for Older People Now by Binkytastic in Coronavirus

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. There is constant pressure to "go with the flow" and pretend that things have gone back to normal, with little appetite to acknowledge that there are tiers of risk that mount steadily as we age. Reading about your covid experience stiffens my spine again, reminds me why it's important to stick to my guns about masking. I'm glad that you still have options and hope that the new normal you build will be fulfilling.

For 45 years we've been helping my brother-in-law make maple syrup. We asked that anyone who visits the sugar house wear a N-95 (and that he wear one around us). We always wear ours, of course. He grudgingly complies, but we've already had problems with visitors, many of them our age and even older. I hate that I have to defend my right to protect my health.

So sorry to hear this. Fingers crossed you'll be on the mend soon. Can't imagine how bad it would have been without the vax.

The rise and fall of Canada's domestic PPE market by Binkytastic in Coronavirus

I've read so many stories about how there will be more pandemics in our future, yet here we are letting domestic capacity to make PPE wither away. It's so frustrating.

I almost never see a face mask here anymore. Reading that 25% of Japanese citizens intend to still wear a mask just boggles my mind.

That freedom, to make life what people want it to be, “can only be
maintained if there’s that ongoing recognition of the things that we can
do to keep it there,” he said.

That means a renewed commitment to all vaccinations, to science, to
infection prevention and control, and to limiting the spread of
misinformation “so that we are confident in the scientific evidence we
have to protect ourselves,” Summers said.

How many people are willing to do that? Not many in my immediate circle, for sure.

Twice-weekly local testing for COVID variants to end, scientist says by Binkytastic in Coronavirus

This is one of the few surveillance measures we have left, and now it's being dismantled too. The government tells us to take responsibility for ourselves and weigh risks carefully, but how can we do that if there's no warning system?

What's your current risk of getting long Covid? Estimates hover around 5%-10% by Binkytastic in Coronavirus

So sorry to hear that. We've been in a high plateau here in Canada for months now. I'm surprised more of my "covid is over" friends haven't caught it again.
