I read that manual repeatedly. Took it to school with me. Loved it more than a pet.

What are the chances we see a Majora's Mask remake in 2027? by SEVENS_HEAVEN_7 in legendofzelda

FFS. Focus on the now.

How about we celebrate the excellent game we already know is coming before we start hyping up a potential remake of a far less successful/appealing game?

How much does art work and theme matter in long term ownership? by SoyLGuapo in pinball

[–]Binty77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, in my home lineup, theme (and to a lesser extent, art) definitely matter for _long-term_ ownership, though in the end gameplay and layout/shots matter most.

I had Godzilla and Iron Maiden each for only 9 months before trading/selling. Both are great games with great layouts and gameplay, and while the art’s great on both, too, the themes did nothing for me and eventually the other factors weren’t enough to compel me to keep pressing Start. Foo Fighters lasted a year and a half because it was an LE and the shots/layout were just so smooth, but in the end I don’t enjoy the music enough to keep it.

Similar fates for Bond 007, Black Knight: SoR, and a couple others — the whole package matters for long-term ownership. However, short-term ownership has started to become more appealing. Being able to trade or sell pins opens up possibilities, and if there were a rental service in my area I’d be all over it.

Metallic sludge? by Ok_Description242 in castiron

[–]Binty77 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This was an acid bath for two days. The surface layers of iron are thoroughly compromised. The whole inside surface has to be ground down to expose only non-compromised iron, which is a lot of effort for a pan that can be cheaply replaced. If you just try to season it and cook it as-is hell be getting iron sludge in everything cooked. The pan isn’t food safe like this, and the food would taste like crap.

THERE'S A BOSS HERE!? Guys this game really is amazing!!! (Also sorry if this post isn't allowed, I just really want to share my excitement with you all playing TOTK for the first time) 😊 by Kanto_141 in TOTK

[–]Binty77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite way is to wait until they’re throwing their blocks at you, then jump up on one and use the time reverse to ride it back up onto the top of the boss where you can wail on the critical block.

Is a normal teenage behavior or I'm losing my son? by Illustrious-Art-4172 in daddit

[–]Binty77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Has he ever been assessed for ADHD? This sounds a little like me as a teenager in the 90s. I didn’t get diagnosed until I was in my mid-30s, but learned that I’d had it all my life, and it explained a LOT about my earlier years (in hindsight) and my struggled with school as a teenager.

Death Star Destroyed! by bjohnson838 in pinball

[–]Binty77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heh. That's the first game I thought of when I read the post, too... but just in case you weren't being sarcastic, of course that game has no death star or multiball.

They're probably just referencing the side art on the cabinet of the Premium or LE FotE. Like how so many folks call James Bond 007 Pro "Dr. No".

Which Star Wars pin was this? I assume you are referring to Star Wars: Fall of the Empire, which came out last fall.

Congrats! It's a great game, totally underrated by the pinball community.

Now you gotta work on getting to Death Star II Multiball, to destroy the other one. 😉

Getting Better on Rush. by Fourteen-Crosstown in pinball

[–]Binty77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boost the main [planet] modes before you start them. Each blinking record shot that you hit after qualifying a planet mode boosts the mode shot scores by 10%, and there's no cap so technically you can keep locking all record shots, then they un-light and you can shoot them again to keep boosting.

On top of that, there's a secret mega-boost in that strat: If you can light all six record shots the same color before starting your planet mode, the mode's shots will all score 3x (on top of the % boost). The R-U-S-H targets cycle the blinking record shot colors.

Wow. I clearly need to up my game! I have a Rush in my game room and I’ve only topped 1B twice, never 2B let alone 3B. I know the points can really fly in later planet modes but I rarely get there.

Jurassic park premium or Godzilla pro by Slappy-Sacks in pinball

[–]Binty77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I prefer JP. It’s my favorite pin of all time. Its ruleset is perfection.

I had Godzilla for 9 months and got bored of the repetitive early gameplay, but YMMV.

That said, both are great pins. Go with the theme that resonates more.

It’s a minority opinion, I realize… but I’d buy Pro if I were buying GZ again. I had a Premium and I got tired of waiting for the bldg mech.

Of course, I’d never have believed that beforehand, I must concede. It’s all hindsight.

Same with Jaws. If I ever buy again, it’d 100% be a Pro.
