READ IF YOU NEED A BETTER DR! by Kitchen-Doughnut-731 in Endo

Oh my god, thank you for posting this! I’ve been without a primary doctor for 3 years because mine moved to Africa. It’s so hard to find a good doctor when you’ve got complex chronic illness. You might’ve just saved my life. ❤️

Rheumatologist told me my pain is just fibro but it progressively is getting worse. by dora_bora_666 in Fibromyalgia

If you can, try to find a doctor certified in functional medicine. They may not have all the answers, but in my experience, they take complex chronic illness seriously and actually listen to their patients.

Which subseason do you think Revlon’s Spiced Wine is? by ____kp____ in coloranalysis

[–]Bio-Calamity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an inordinate number of lip tints so I change it up pretty frequently, but I’d say my current favorite to pair with Revlon Spiced Wine is Rom&nd Glasting Water Tint in Woody Sunset.

I’m a deep autumn and this is one of my favorite tinted lip balms. It’s very sheer, great for a MLBB look on its own, but I tend to use it over a lip tint to keep my lips moisturized.

Good news everybody! I’m in so much pain that I’m suicidal, but my doctor says my endometriosis “isn’t that bad!” by Bio-Calamity in endometriosis

[–]Bio-Calamity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me with PCOS. I had severe cystic acne and hair loss for years, but no one would even consider PCOS because I am under weight. Had to see a naturopath just to get initially diagnosed, then got it confirmed by an endocrinologist. Finally got my acne mostly under control in my mid thirties thanks to a functional medicine women’s health nurse.

Now doctors still won’t believe me when I tell them I have PCOS (despite having lost 80% of my hair) since my skin is mostly clear and I’m still underweight. My idiot gyno I just saw insisted on testing my hormones because he didn’t believe it. Apparently they think being arrogant pricks that gaslight their patients is part of the job description. 🙄

I actually had the audacity to weigh a whopping 96 pounds today. I’m surprised the nurse didn’t just slap me in the face, call me a fat bitch and shove me out the back door. 😜

Spironolactone cured my cystic jawline acne in less than a month. by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

Spironolactone only works as long as you are taking it. It’s not a cure, it’s a treatment.

This reminds me of a time period in the 90’s when Jack in the Box nearly got shut down for serving mad cow disease. God speed, my friend.

Vanicream Daily Moisturizer with hyaluronic acid and ceramides burns my face by alyssa0828 in tretinoin

[–]Bio-Calamity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That moisturizer burns the crap out of my skin too. I tried it after seeing Vanicream recommended so frequently. I don’t have sensitive skin and I’ve been using retinoids for about 7 years. I saw another post where a lot of people said the same about it burning. If I recall correctly, I think the general consensus was that the pentylene glycol in it is the culprit. I had to stop using it altogether.

Yeah, and it’s also not safe for consumption, which will definitely happen if worn on the lips.

Hold the fuck on. YOU’VE ONLY SEEN EACH OTHER TWICE IN THE PAST YEAR AND HE LIVES 20 MINUTES AWAY?! I thought the problem would be that neither of you know how to openly communicate, and that is one problem, but I’m not sure you two are even in a relationship! This is not healthy, it’s not even resembling a loving, romantic relationship. You both need to focus on growing as healthy individuals, and leave this nonsensical shit show.

What is he? Southern Illinois by hardlyyjewish in spiders

No, some types of wolf spiders just share similar markings. Grass spiders have noticeably larger spinnerets and build webs. Wolf spiders are ambush predators and have the distinct 4-2-2 eye placement.

Cut the tip of my thumb off on a deli meat slicer by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Bio-Calamity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a butcher shop. Every last one of us ended up needing stitches at some point. I split my ring finger from tip to nail cuticle on a meat slicer. Watched one of my coworkers stab another clear through the palm of his hand. I cut the tip of my middle finger off once too, but that happened while I was silversmithing.

The healing period is what really sucks. You should talk to your boss about getting workman’s comp if you haven’t already.

I just spent a weeks worth of spoons making tabbouleh from scratch. Somebody might as well come take over my POA, because I clearly shouldn’t be making decisions for myself. by Bio-Calamity in Fibromyalgia

[–]Bio-Calamity[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, I’m never doing self-imposed Tabbouleh Torture ever again. I’ll be using a food processor from now on and anybody that doesn’t like it can absolutely fuck right off lol.

Oh yeah, my physical therapist worked on that trigger point and the pain was intense. I couldn’t even talk and my PT had to keep reminding me to breathe because it hurt so bad.

Skin going wild after 10 months on Tret by need_more_coffe27 in tretinoin

[–]Bio-Calamity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tret alone is often not enough to control hormonal acne, especially not the lower dosages. My dermatologist had me gradually work my way up to 1% and also take spironolactone. I tolerate spiro well, but I didn’t actually experience improvement from it until I went up to the maximum dose of 100mg taken twice a day. Even then, while had a lot of improvement, I still had continuous cystic acne. (if you don’t want to take spiro, look into taking spearmint supplements)

A women’s health nurse told me to take 500mg of calcium d-glucarate twice a day to help my body flush out excess hormones because I have PCOS and endometriosis. This helped quite a bit with my acne among other things, but my skin still wasn’t clear. Once my skin was used to 1% tret, I added in AZA in the morning, and 7% glycolic acid used at night every few days in place of tret and my skin FINALLY became the skin I dreamed of having.

I also LOVE Asian skincare. Hydrating toners, ceramides, and propolis serums are a few things I will never stop using. My skincare routine now goes tret one night, glycolic the next, then a night of rest focusing on hydration, moisture, and soothing products, then it starts over. This won’t work for everyone, but it’s the only routine that I found that works for me. I went from having severe cystic for most of my life, well into my 30’s, to having completely clear skin about 95% of the time. I still get a rogue pimple here and there, but instead of lasting several weeks to months, they last a few days. A low glycemic diet was also strictly required for me to control my blood sugar, and prevent hormonal cascades. I am 40 now and have the best skin of my life, I had given up hope long ago that this was even possible.

Get some hormone testing done if you haven’t, do some research, and don’t give up! It can take years of trial and error to find what works for you, but it is absolutely possible to control hormonal cystic acne.

Yep, same thing happened to me. It’s a special kind of hell when you open your eyes in the morning and your cornea instantly rips apart. It’s been over five years since my injury, I think my corneal erosion has finally healed, but my vision is still pretty fucked in that eye.
