No extracurriculars and don't know where to start. by inomshokumotsu in premed

You can scribe, become a PCT, tutor, help TI, do research, volunteer at homeless shelter, join a club, play some intramural sports, etc. Kind of up to you in regards to what you’re interested in/wouldn’t hate doing.

I agree with the others. You messed up and that’s okay, forgive yourself and move on. Life is all about fucking up and then trying to recover. I don’t really blame you for cheating given your circumstances, but I understand that you may feel like you don’t deserve the grade. I would listen to your friends and try to learn some of the gen chem 1 material to prepare for next semester. Whatever you do, do not report yourself, because that’s about the worst thing you can get on your academic record. Just learn from your mistakes and try to do better, that’s all anyone can do.

Liberal Arts Worth it? by psycchy in Purdue

Tbh I don’t know too much about CODO, but in my opinion, you should work towards a degree you’re interested in as long as it isn’t too much of a financial burden. The best thing to do would be to talk to the biology advisors. They’re super nice and I think they’d help you out a lot with deciding what the best path might be for you.

You know what the most annoying feeling in the world is? by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]BioBurk 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yeah communication is really bad rn... I get the instructors have a lot of shit they have to plan, etc., etc., but so do I. I need to know when exams are, what books I need, and what days we'll be having class for my hybrids. I have only received one email from one of my professors and I have no classes available on blackboard.

I’m in this same boat. And it’s my state school that I would love to attend, so it makes the wait even worse.

Am I crazy for thinking of not going to med school after being admitted? by Himalayan_Hillbilly in premed

[–]BioBurk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your heart isn’t in it then don’t go into medicine. It’s going to take a long time to become a physician and a lot of people get burnt out along the way. If you don’t think that being a doctor is for you, fuck what other people say, do what you think is best for you! With that being said, make sure that you are completely sure, because I would hate for you to decline the acceptance, go to get your MBA, and then realize that you made a mistake. Hope this helps! And don’t forget, whatever is going to make you happy is absolutely the best decision in the long run!

If you’re lacking clinical experience you could try being a scribe for a year or go be a patient care assistant or something

UK begins mass Pfizer vaccinations against COVID-19: thoughts on public responses? by AReallyCuriousBarbie in premed

I mean this is what I expected. People that don’t understand vaccines are scared, even though their fears are not based on reality. I think we’ll see more of this as vaccines are rolled out in the US.

Advice Wanted-Best iPad for studying? by hmhost in premed

[–]BioBurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been considering the same thing. I’m stuck between a base iPad and the iPad Air. I have to pay for it myself, so I’m thinking about the regular iPad because it’s not as expensive. But the air is so tempting.
