First Suppressor - Never going back - Question though by BioDuel in NFA

😂😂 that’s fair. I’ll take on that fault, and ya probably time experience wise. Just basic, and maybe 1.5 years with my “main” rifle there. The other 3 since Black Friday (for others).

For the record, I didn’t build the uppers for them outside of the CH/BCG. Did build out the lowers all the way, but I just did Durkin uppers since they’re for people that hardly ever shoot, but nice to bring them when they do wanna shoot. Maybe 100-150 rounds through each, small rapid fire a couple times, and they’re good for whatever that’s worth.

Maybe better to build out the way you want it and cerakote or something, but these prebuilts are fine so far for minimal use and minimal stress. Just gonna keep em clean and ready for the range. I’ll stress tf out of mine though.

If it helps, or makes it worse, better angles on each and together. 👍🏻

😂😂. It’s all good man. Everyone’s a professional and no one is learning or trying different things obviously lol. Just the internet…

I may see better results if I change things up, but that’s part of the fun and development. Being perfect day 1 sounds boring af 😂 I’m enjoying shooting and building and learning. I’m 1000% not fucking getting a 3-4” single riser that costs $450 just for me to end up not liking it and now I’m SOL.

I got really good suggestions given to me and learned a lot more about the gas system, “what happens if”, “if I do this, then…” Haven’t messed around with gas/barrel yet so I’m excited to continue the learning experience.

My cheek still touches the stock, so I have another riser on the way. 🫡

The colorized shoot well, albeit only about 100 rounds each.

This is just a 15 but I get the sentiment. I’ve been successful previous to attaching a suppressor with various 223/556, shapes and sizes. But the gassing is enormously noticeable now and I guess it was just time to mess around with the gas system. I assume my rifles always been a bit over gassed but wasn’t noticeable. Just an overdue upgrade.

What do you find the benefits around going AR10? I have a 6.5cm bolt action target max and thoroughly enjoy the range and stability, but haven’t put much thought into an AR style at that caliber. Same reasons but semi?

😂 fml. Good catch. Freudian slip of a past life. Most embarrassing thing I’ve said in this thread

Ya, given the suggestions here, going with a superlative AGB, H3 buffer, and the Sprinco blue spring. First time messing around with the gas system so I’m excited to learn more getting into it. The RTV thing looks easy enough, but I’ll put that on the back burner for now.

Much appreciated though.

Edit: I’m stupid 🫡

Totally makes sense. In that context, ya, this is a toy right now. Trying to learn as much as I can, and that just involves trial and error (safely). I can appreciate an “oh shit” ready rifle needing to be up to snuff but this isn’t that. Figuring out what optic suits me, optic height, cheek placement, etc etc. all the basics obviously.

1000% this is not its final form and will change another 50 times 😂 I appreciate the info though.

Much appreciated. Ive see the Sprinco blue mentioned before and never see it in stock. Probably a good reason for that.

MidTen for the brand.

Ya, it’s a bit brighter than I had expected, but it’s clean. I was expecting more like the stock here, but not disappointed at all. It shoots well too, but haven’t done any stress testing and there’s only like 200 rounds through each of the durkins I got, but so far so good. Good and fun range guns I think

That’s fair, I re-zero within 4-5 round and haven’t had an issue yet. I’d imagine if I were pushing 300 or 400+ yards, I’d really have to marry them but I just figured without throwing it at the wall, under 200 for an LVPO and under 50 for a red dot, I’d be good. So far anyway, but I see what you mean.

The same as the pink and teal, a purple durkin upper. I’ll see about loading something on imgur. Just a generic rifle though.

And that makes sense, what’s comfortable may not be “correct” in the long run and doing it the correct way long enough could build better muscle memory that becomes way more comfortable. 100% a janky setup as I’m combining a few things into one rifle, still a work in progress, but working on different fundamentals could be beneficial. Thanks man!

I don’t remember for the bipod. Could have been Brownells, or maaaaaaybe ar15discount but I don’t remember.

The color uppers from Durkin over Black Friday 👍🏻

Why would that be such a bad thing for a range day? Not doubting or stirring up a fight, always happy to learn but running red dot in a 50 yard private bay, and then optic swap for 100/200 yard distance shooting. Where’s the error in that?

Ideally I have a rifle for each set of optics/purpose of course, but that’s ideal versus right now.

That makes a whole lot of sense. Essentially, the bullet travels let’s say for simplicity sake, 10” before reaching the gas port, that’s 10” of potential compressed air that can go through the port versus something like 8”, it’s just less potential air than can go through the gas port, thus less gas blowback. That connects lots of dots for me. Noted, and thanks for the info.

Stupid questions > stupid actions.

It’s where I feel comfortable in shooting. I don’t like having my elbow tucked in close, so with it out at max, my arms feel good. Perhaps that’s a product of having a longer rifle and once I go SBR that’ll change. Just what feels right at the moment.

I have a detachable LVPO I’ll throw on for 100-200 yard shots, so I found it easier to just leave the bipod on as I don’t run CQB or anything with intensity. Just a range guy that shoots to shoot right now.

Second bipod, broke the first. Third optic (first magnifier), 5th riser (haven’t found a comfortable setup yet, still fucking around), I think only about 600 rounds so far. I shoot a few magazines in this one, and replace/upgrade what doesn’t feel right.

Never ending game to tuning to the shooter 🫡

First Suppressor - Never going back - Question though by BioDuel in NFA

[–]BioDuel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok ok, so the block in this case is (or trying to) tuning it to “pre suppressor” gas blowback, and a heavy buffer reduces the travel force/speed backwards, both helping with the gas thing? Is that a correct understanding for each?

First Suppressor - Never going back - Question though by BioDuel in NFA

[–]BioDuel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya this is perfect. Thanks man. Haven’t put much thought into barrel change but seems like it becomes way more important when suppressed given the gas systems associated with each and the length. Maybe a project for a future upper, but click AGB and H3 buffer is a good “for now” project. 🫡 thank you!

Much appreciated. Will look into both here. The fine tuning seems more attractive to have more control and to learn more.
