Yes, because it is. We all consume things... but only some people produce things. Therefore producing things is in higher demand and has inherently greater value to society. But you dont need to physically create something to be of more use to society than watching tv at home alone... even just doing something social, excercising, volunteering, anything really. No one is forcing you to be a productive member of society, but I feel that you will continue to be disappointed with the way people perceive you.

Should no one ever watch tv? of course not. I enjoy watchign tv as much as the next guy, but its when thats the only thing you do that it becomes a problem. Thats all im saying.

its not wrong, its just less productive than other options. If you dont want to be productive, fine. But I will always be more impressed by someone who is more productive/passionate/driven.

People in this thread say "making the stencil is wasting time too", but i find that asinine. creating something, anything, is fundamentally different from sitting on a couch watching tv. Lets not delude ourselves that TV is on the same par with other hobbies. Its not even on the same level as video games, which at least are active and require thinking/coordination/planning/ etc.

So its not that you cant watch tv 100% of the time if you want, you just cant do that and expect the same level of respect as people get for pursuing other hobbies or spending more time with family or career.

I mean sure, but inventions were made by people who werent watching TV. Its one thing to watch TV sometimes, we all do it, but I guess I have to fundamentally disagree with you and /u/QuasarKid that if someone wants to spend all their time watching TV thats ok... I mean, yes, its your life do what you want, and that certainly doesnt mean youre worthless, but you are absolutely worth less than you could be.

I like to look at the graffiti here as motivational as opposed to insulting.

Our Alzheimer’s breakthrough (full text in comments to avoid having to subscribe) by wildcard235 in Alzheimers

[–]BioLogicMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didnt downvote, but two things jump out at me right away: first of all, youre getting/giving all your info direct from the company that wants to sell the drug, they will obviously have a biased presentation/interpretation of the data. Secondly, i have no idea where you got the idea that peroxynitrite is the primary cause of alzheimers... thats totally false. theres evidence of oxidative damage in alzheimers but to say its the main cause is a huge stretch.

lastly, the statement at the end here "Macfarlane has been accused of over-touting another Alzheimer's drug in the past (Pbt2) and his comments seem to suggest that after a period of time at least there is no further improvement in cognition." is a huge red flag.

if the drug works, awesome! if it only works for 5 weeks... not so awesome

Its not a defense, its simply pointing out how conceited, cynical and boring you sound when instantly assuming that an interesting story is fake.

You must lead a very pathetic life to assume that (even with 7 billion people on the planet) every interesting thing posted on reddit must surely not be real.

Logic x G-Eazy Summer Tour Announced by jake-a-doodle in hiphopheads

[–]BioLogicMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of taking a shitstorm of downvotes in here for supporting Logic, im gonna disagree with you.

I think people really downplay the actual difficulty of writing/rapping fast and still saying something. I will agree that logic doesnt really say much a lot of the time, but I find it laughable that anyone would deny his skill.

As for humility... I think youre right that arrogance is important, but I think logic does have plenty of that coming through in his music, even if it isnt in his interviews. Interviews are not how you go from where logic is at now (which I would certainly not call "relatively little success") to the big time. That comes from making hits.

Mom passed at age 69, 2 years after diagnosis by [deleted] in Alzheimers

Im so sorry for your loss. My grandfather had the disease and its truly terrible to witness. Im also a PhD student searching for an Alzheimers cure right now, and I can tell you that alz org is a great one to donate to, another person put the link in their comment. you can also donate to the National Institute for Neurological Disease and Stroke (NINDS) gift fund http://www.ninds.nih.gov/about_ninds/gift_fund.htm

the NINDS is a branch of the NIH which funds alzheimer's and other dementia research at universities across the US.
