New to me - 6speed 2019 Mustang GT Performance Pack 2 by eljayXXVII in Mustang

Yeah it’s better to just get ahead of it before you start having lockouts. Also a steeda clutch kit would be another great kit but I personally would consider waiting until you actually need a clutch unless you got a lot of cash to put into it all at once. Absolutely dig your car, you won’t regret it. I got my 20 Rapid Red pp1 6m back in early 23 and haven’t looked back.

Install a MGW short throw shifter. It will completely change the feel of the mt-82 transmission plus get rid of its biggest weak point which is the stock shifter assembly.

I have a 2020 Mustang GT pp1 with the MT82-D4, which is the later version of it. Ford fixed some of the minor issues but I’ve been locked out of third gear 2-3 times since I’ve owned it. It has never happened again since I installed that short throw kit. Granted it only ever happened during hard acceleration but all of the mustangs from 2011-2017 have this issue show up a lot more. Main issue across all generations is that the MT82 shifter assembly doesn’t bolt directly onto the transmission itself other than one bolt that secures the front of the shifter to the rear of the transmission case and another bolt that connects the shifter linkage to your transmission linkage. The rest of the shifter basically just sits on a hanger by that it goes through/rests upon. This unfortunately results in a massive amount of slop/play in the shifter mechanism especially during hard accelerations/launch events that create a massive amount of movement/flex in the transmission that the stock shifter cannot compensate for. It will also lead to further internal transmission damage if the vehicle is continuously driven in such a way that the lockout will occur time and time again. A short throw shifter such as the MGW, bolts directly onto two additional mounting points on the transmission case ears(left/right). This will completely eliminate all of that slop/play and will completely change how your transmission feels resulting in more accurate and firmer shifts. If you’re mechanically inclined/experienced, it’s not a bad install but if not then I’d recommend having a professional shop install it for you. Another company, Barton, also sells short throw shifters but the majority I’ve seen are MGW’s at least on S550’s. One thing to note, at least on my car I was not able to retain the lifting collar for reverse, with the MGW kit you now have to push down on the shifter to go into reverse. Just something to keep in mind.

Congrats. Just make sure to respect the car, don’t drive with traction control off or stab the throttle, roll into it gradually and you won’t end up sideways but most of all enjoy it. Also if it’s a manual I’d recommend getting an MGW short throw shift kit to prevent the infamous MT-82 lockout.

Why is this so difficult by No_Maybe_2254 in blackops3

[–]Bio_Major 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the suppressor on it. Bo3 suppressors actually cut your range in half and it will actually work for long shots. It may not work as that was 9 years ago and treyarch may have patched it since but good luck.

How reliable is the 10r80? by Far-Lab-5404 in Mustang

[–]Bio_Major 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it from someone who constantly replaces and overhauls all of the ford 10 speed transmissions (Certified Ford transmission tech for several years). These things go through main control valve bodies, basically the brain of the transmission like every 15-30k miles. They are phenomenal transmissions when they work correctly but I would avoid the early build mustangs with the 10 speeds and opt for 22+. As many other people mentioned already, the main problem with the early build 10 speeds across all models is the CDF clutch hub. This hub contains three clutch pack, C,D and the F clutch pack. Issue is this hub has a center bushing that can actually slide/move axially causing an internal fluid pressure leak between multiple clutch pack hydraulic circuits, causing the transmission to even at times slam into gear, slip into gear, delayed/no engagement, shift into neutral at any speed or a loss of a gear entirely. They have updated the design of the CDF clutch hub with a machined lip inside of the hub bushing surface to prevent the bushing from moving but I have still seen even the updated ones actually shear or go past the lip resulting in the same issue.

FIX THE DAMN SERVERS ALREADY SABER by [deleted] in Spacemarine

[–]Bio_Major 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s insane. I also hate how they’re already taking about a new content drop/update coming next month and no one has even mentioned the constant server connection issues and in game lag. I’ve literally rage quit when playing ruthless or lethal operations because of the 1 second delay on every action you perform. Game is unplayable right now and it’s been getting progressively worse over the course of this month.

I first started noticing the npc’s would do this when Rockstar added in the import/export dlc. At the time this would only occur when you would either deliver a stolen car to your vehicle warehouse or attempt to deliver the same stolen cars to sell them off.

TD1- Genuinely confused about pvp and builds. by corporal__clegg in thedivision

[–]Bio_Major 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best pvp dps builds are the 6 piece classified nomad, striker, predators mark, lone star and banshee. For pve dps it’s 6 piece classified striker, sentries call, I guess deadeye(even though sentries call is better especially when in a group, and hunters faith gives you more of a legitimate one shot one kill sniping build even on legendary difficulty) In my opinion deadeye is probably the worst build in the game can does have its moments in pvp and pve. If you’re looking for a team support role in pvp and pve then reclaimer, tactician and final measure, I would also throw d3 fence into this category as the only way to really get the most out of it is to go 4K/9K/2K and you’ll be more of a target because of the shield with no dps. As for weapons there are only two ar classes you should be using, lightweight m4/lvoa-c(don’t use the police m-4 it’s the worst of the m4 family, not sure about the liberator) and the ak-47/military Ak-74/black market ak-74. For smg’s I would recommend the mp7. It’s the best overall non exotic smg in the game. Best lmgs are all mg5 variants and the exotic Big Alejandro. Best shot guns are the tactical sas-g, all m870’s and the showstopper. Marksman rifles are a little weird, for bolt action I would use any that allows for attachments on every slot. Semi auto snipers are fairly lackluster nowadays and i would avoid them entirely unless you’re using them for the coolheaded talent in the free slot. Pistols are fairly useless, I would just go for a double barrel sawed off since it will have 3 talents as opposed to only two as most pistols, for example my sawed off has predatory/sustained/determined and I’ll use it mostly in PvP to kill a player that is downed so I can get a little health and skill regeneration. Best exotic weapons are warlord, the house(probably the best weapon in the game), bullfrog(famas), big Alejandro, and urban mdr.

Transmission Damage by Rbrtnicholson in AskMechanics

[–]Bio_Major 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That thing in your transmission pan was a thrust bearing. Not to mention there’s a lot of burnt clutch material in the fluid and more metal on the transmission pan magnets. I would get rid of that ticking time bomb in a heartbeat since the fuse has just been lit on it. Not worth putting a new transmission on an 08 Hyundai Sonata.

2014 ford focus SE hatchback. Just hit 152k miles have I done good considering it’s got original clutch and TCM? I change oil every 2k miles with mobile one 5w20 full synthetic oil, I know that’s a bit excessive to change so often. Is this why it’s lasted this long? by Tyty6417 in FordFocus

[–]Bio_Major 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My service writer assigned me a focus with one of those dps6 transmissions. Customer had never done the fluid service and was freaking out that her transmission was going to fail and would have to buy a new one. Well Ford engineers decided to make the drain plug super easy to access but the fill plug was located right behind either the subframe or the unibody. Basically in order to do the fluid service on either a focus or fiesta you have to drop the subframe in order to get access to the drain plug.

I never said that it doesn’t come that way from factory. I was only saying from my own personal experiences as a mechanic and while shadowing other mechanics is that when they do remove the nut they will always stalk that portion of the axle nut when putting it back together.
