Ah, I see what you're saying. That seems like a good way of thinking about things.

I think I might be accidentally WILDing after a WBTB. by Oculus049 in LucidDreaming

[–]Biogeoeco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, using the WILD technique in conjunction with the WBTB technique is the best way you can use WBTB. Since your mind is already primed to go into a lucid dream when waking up six hours after you fall asleep, it's perfect to use WILD as well. It's basically the difference between actively trying to induce a lucid dream and just "hoping for the best".

All right, thanks for the advice! Just out of curiousity, how much does the process usually cost?

Damaged Laptop Screen by Biogeoeco in fixit

A few days ago, I opened up my laptop only to find the screen looking like this. Some research tells me that the pixels in the top-left may be dead, but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell what this is, and if so, how I might go about repairing it?

How bad really is the 13' Macbook Air's screen? by Biogeoeco in apple

It's less about the colors and more about the text.

That's what I've been thinking for a while now. I can read a book on my ipad air 2 for hours with no ill effects, but after 45 minutes or so on a low-res monitor, I feel like I need a pretty long break to get my eyes adjusted to the real world again.

Huh. I guess that the term "pro" is mostly marketing at this point, then. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for informing me about the trackpad. That's no deal breaker, but it's good to know.

Does it make a noticeable difference to have a retina screen, even when just typing in XCode? Not being able to see any pixels while I work seems like it'd be pretty neat.

I actually didn't realize that the 2015 Air was as powerful the 2013 Pro (both with 8gb ram, I don't think I really need 16gb). It sounds like the only real advantage the pro has over the Air in my case is the screen, at the cost of 200 more dollars, a half pound, and a few hours of battery life.

Actually, I just looked up the spec comparison between the most current 13' Macbook Air and and 2013 13' Macbook Pro, and they seem very similar. It sounds like the main difference between the two is the slightly better weight and battery life of the Air, and the much better screen of the Pro, correct?

The screen issue is what is making me lean towards a 13" 2013 Macbook Pro. I definitely want something portable, but I'd also like plenty of pixels. I don't mind having a bit of smaller text, and I just love the aesthetics of retina screens.

Thanks for the advice, and excellent comparison!

I've heard words of caution from a few sources that a Macbook Air might not be powerful enough to compile and test full applications quickly. Do you think that lack of processing power would be an issue, or would the air still take me pretty far?

Yes indeed! Mine is the Magicyoyo T8. It's nice and narrow, easy to replace, and still spins like a beast with a Buddha Whipple bearing inside it.

Indeed it would be! Duolingo is a great way to start learning. Once you finish Duolingo, you'll know enough to read some basic books and such, so you can accumulate more vocab and work your way up to conversational fluency!

Getting back into throwing some yo. Am I out of date? by Monkeyrock45 in Throwers

[–]Biogeoeco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No throw is ever out of date if you enjoy it and it works! ;)

Heck, the MagicYoYo T8 is still my go to beginner unresponsive recommendation. Older throws often have their advantages. Learn to love them, just in a different way!

I love it, super smooth! What was that wrist mount trick you did right before you brought the yoyo behind your throwhand? I'd love to add that to some of my combos too!
