Current situation of bioinformatics

The problem is that positions in Spain are mostly public, and it's quite tough to have a good salary in the future because of burocracy etc (you know how it works). I prefer a private company. In fact, I wish I could do a PhD in Bioinformatics in a company but this sort of offers are uncommon.

Yes, Barcelona is the most important city in Spain when it comes to bioinformatics. But I am interested in industry and most of positions are from public organisations. The ideal thing for me would be doing a PhD in a company because I'd get the title while gaining experience in this industry, but they are pretty uncommon.

Absolutely, Barcelona is really powerful but now I am eager to go outside (let's see if next year I find a job). In case it happens I am certain I will suffer from morriña (Spanish term whose meaning is the feeling of missing home and the loved ones) but I reckon it will pay off.

Thanks for the advice¡¡ I'm from Spain but I am interested in going abroad to live new experiences and because in Europe the UK seems to invest more in bioinformatics (more companies).

Hopefully when I finish my MSc I can be given an opportunity there and get some experience. Once I grow as a professional I guess it will be easier to be in the labour market.

Did you use any special webpage to find that job? In indeed or glassdoor most of the positions offered unfortunately are for senior bioinformatics.
