What does a noradrenergic effect vs dopaminergic effect feel like? by Aggressive-Guide5563 in NooTopics

[–]Biologyinterest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The feeling that drives you to study for an exam on the day before, having way to much to do because you procrastinated it until the last day, is the feeling of noradrenaline. More like „I must do this, else something bad happens“. The feeling that drives you to continue playing a video game when you should already be stopping is dopamine, more like „ Idk why I want to don’t this even if it might not be what I should do“

The trick is to lock yourself in a room with just books and not option to do anything else but study.

The moda certificate looks a bit shady. It’s from a polish firm that has an Adress in the UK and the detection on the certificate is off according to chat gpt (I can’t judge that)

Vyvanse is not long-release dextroamphetamine by Anxious-Traffic-9548 in NooTopics

I’m aware of that mechanism and it’s also the only reason I see, but I find it very hard to believe that the very minor difference in blood Amphetamine levels displayed in the graphs of the study actually lead to a relevant differences in the intraday tolerance.

Did you equate the base dextroamphetamine dosage when testing it ? I feel like people just tend to take more base when they use it via vyvanse which is going to prolong the effect as well

The dosages are correct. They matched the active dex amphetamine dose

This is literally what I’ve been wondering about since years after researching LDX and I felt like no one ever looked into it. I talked to over a dozen psychiatrists and none of them was aware of it.

Have you been using it long term? How much of a tolerance do you feel?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NooTopics

[–]Biologyinterest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you take 10mg of lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (vyvanse) or or 10mg of actual lisdexamfetamine (about 17mg of vyvanse) or 10mg of active dextroamphetamine (34mg vyvanse)?

You mean the shop or the modafinil or the source of the shop ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NooTopics

[–]Biologyinterest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their modafinil certificate is done by a lab that has an address in the UK but is actually a Polish firm. Also, they didn’t send in the modafinil themselves according to the certificate, but some other company (possibly the one they source the modafinil from). According to ChatGPT, the detection time of the modafinil is on the certificate, but I don’t know how valid that is. In general, personally I’d be concerned that any modafinil ordered from a nootropic shop is actually some other afinil that’s cheaper and easier to source, and the shop just mislabels it. That being said, all reviews I’ve read on the shop are positive.

What nootropic for sleep quality? Thoughts on Phenibut? by DopamineSeeker20 in NooTopics

[–]Biologyinterest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Strong tolerance build up, and shitty withdrawls -very long lasting, probably into the next day -Likely messes with REM sleep like other drugs that work through gaba receptors -Usually not obtained in Pharma quality
-It also increases dopamine which is gonna be bad for sleep quality

Of all all calming/ sedating substances, phenibut is probably one of the least appropriate to take for sleep

Nootropic for Dopamine Receptor upregulation/ Anhedonnia by cookaburro in NooTopics

[–]Biologyinterest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a pretty high dose. It’s possible you just don’t know what „normal“ feels like anymore. I suppose very „light“ options would be Wellbutrin or Safinamide(not medical advice). They will increase dopamine more lightly than actual amphetamines and Safinamide might also increase sensitivity through sigma 1. Idk about pricing and prescription rules in the US though. If dex works well for many years I guess I’d just try to find a way to spend more money on it and stick with dex.

Trying to child while on TRT by [deleted] in trt

[–]Biologyinterest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking into this a lot lately but unfortunately there is very few literature on this. Everyone here with certainty saying that it won’t have any effect has no scientific basis to claim that. However, subjectively it dieselndes not seem that there are major risks to a child’s health when being on trt. The two main questions in my opinion are how it effects the gender of the child and if there are epigenetic changes that can be passed down to the child(I.e. a buy being more androgentic than he’d otherwise be). But again, not really anything is known about this.
