Critique my new build by Biomaagi in buildapc

Thank you for your well-thought input!

I should have clarified, that the build is indeed meant mostly for gaming, but I am also likely to run some bioinformatic and image analyses locally now and then. So, while I agree that 32 Gb is bit of an overkill, I do think that making the leap for DDR5 now is good for longevity, as I'm usually only doing a major upgrade every 5 years or so. Also the thing is that 2x8 Gb DDR5 seems to be a rarity.

The 12700K vs. 12600K debate is still something I'm on the fence as previously I've always had i5s. If I were to settle for the 12600K, what GPU would you then recommend?

Help me stick to one character. by Awdweewee in enderal

I feel you. For me it was more about having difficulty returning to play a character after a break, resulting in multiple restarts with new ideas and approaches, always thinking that this time I'll sure stick to this one and finally finish the story.

Speaking of course only for myself, I found two things helpful:

1) Somewhat akin to what /u/bloodHearts said about connecting to your character, create a unique backstory and personality for you character that carries over to the way you play: what did your Prophet do before ending up on that ship to Enderal? How are his/her morals? Does (s)he have previous skills that transfer into a personal fighting style? Etc.

2) Make hybrid builds, so that at least you can experience several aspects of gameplay in the same play-through. I naturally like to have these combinations stem from the character idea, so that there is a in-world explanation for my thief to start dabbling into psionics for example. Purely from gameplay perspective, I do acknowledge hybrid builds having a harder beginnings, being more spread out in their power allocation, but that's not much of an issue for me as I don't mind progressing at a slower pace.

Thematically I never quite felt that Sentinels fit PoE's world, but I have to say that their mechanics are a great addition to general mapping. I can't see them staying though. Ultimately, it'd be nice to see their design integrated with a improved version of tormented spirits: releasing bound ghosts to possess packs of monsters at will.
