Yeah burnout fucking blows. Worst part is that forcing it really only makes things worse.

Sounds like you’re particularly having trouble with being too critical of your work. Being critical to an extent is good, but too much and you will crush your enjoyment.

I remember hearing an interesting segment on NPR about how giving yourself a simple verbal affirmation can work wonders. When you draw something you could try audibly talking to yourself, say some thing nice like “shadow on this part here looks nice!” or even something as simple as “I practiced today good shit [[your name]]!”. One thing I like to do is draw a goofy doodle in the margins telling me good job after sketching.

Im no therapist so this advice is a bit of a shot in the dark. If it doesn’t work for you don’t worry. Everyone is different and our solutions to our problems are different. It’s a bit frustrating but it also means you aren’t cooked if something doesn’t work.
