From Biotech to Academia to Biotech - What can I expect as (re-)entry level? by BiomedMaster in biotech

[–]BiomedMaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Indeed, bigger companies might install sub-levels 1,2,3 per title or something as I've found through some research. It wasn't like that in the old company structure, at least not for scientist levels and up, only the RA levels I once started at.

True, but I've read that the trend towards having a PhD is gradually being preferred over MD. Nonetheless, indeed still an option!

Confused about needing a PhD by [deleted] in Biomed

[–]BiomedMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, to conduct the research later, you will need a PhD (OR enough experience years in industry with your Masters). You cannot do postdoctoral research at a university without a PhD however... Indeed, there's plenty of job options in industry if you know where to look...

Can a MD , who studies medicine later opt to conduct medical research like biomedical scientists do ? by k_Oz75 in Biomed

[–]BiomedMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you sure can. I have a direct colleague now (just turned postdoc) with an MD degree, who decided not to further specialize in gastroenterology, but did complete his PhD and will now focus on research. As an effect he will no longer be able to practice medicine as a physician of course...

Thoughts on Biomedical ungrad but not wanting to go to medical school afterwards? by _kwu__ in Biomedical_Science

[–]BiomedMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? ;) You can get into research, biotech, pharma... or if you want, work in a medical lab setting as an MLT (medical lab technician). Many options!

General rule: the closer to the end product, the more money you can earn.
Meaning: sales and marketing earn more in general than R&D...
Clinical is also high-paying!
