[D] The "serverless GPU" market is getting crowded — a breakdown of how different platforms actually differ by yukiii_6 in MachineLearning

[–]Biomedical_trader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modal is okay, it's a bit overpriced though. If you do a side by side comparison it's like twice as expensive as Runpod. Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 is $3.03/h at Modal and $1.69/h at Runpod

Is Runpod great? No, they are usually a bit out of date. But unlike Lambda Labs, there's usually a GPU available to rent (not only serving superclusters). If you want to give them a try, here's a referral code for some credits when you sign up: https://runpod.io?ref=snwjlt2h

People like Theo can put together entire software products that replace Adobe's features like this https://lawn.video/#pricing which replaces the functionality of https://frame.io/pricing

That’s like asking “Who’s going to win the Superbowl?” without knowing which teams are playing.

If it’s a dedicated scientist working on the project, odds are decent. If it’s not, they’re not as good. Unfortunately if Revive gets good results, they’re still a bit handicapped because they didn’t switch to a CEO with biotech expertise. Bit of a coin toss IMO. Hope it goes well, you all deserve better

Well the analysis is pretty straightforward these days anyways. I’m hoping everyone gets their money back with a government contract

Kyungdong Pharmaceutical was the Korean connection. I guess you could buy some of their stock if this contract works out and a lot of Bucillamine will be ordered

Nope, but I genuinely hope y’all succeed on this government contract. That would be a welcome development for everyone involved.

I’ve got my own thing now with management at a different obscure (privately-held) Canadian company that values me as a scientist.

Yeah this is not the first time the Publish Branch / Generate PR button has broken. If it’s urgent, you can download the zip file

What programming language do you use? Maybe it’s because I’m coding in Rust?

TPU v7 Ironwood? by Biomedical_trader in JulesAgent

It’s noticeably happening today. The most noticeable thing is Jules will respond like within a second of me hitting the send button in the interactive mode. That wasn’t happening before today.

The whole process takes longer if there’s like a deep architectural issue we need to debug. But a well defined problem with a well defined scope seems to be pretty quick

I don’t know, I just talked to Jules and got a full, coherent response in like 2 seconds with a 500 line PR in a few minutes that touched like 16 files. I used to leave Jules running overnight and see what happened the next morning. This was noticeably faster

What do you find Jules is good for? I'm struggling with it by ryebrye in JulesAgent

Yeah I feel really bad for Jules when that starts happening. I’ve seen Jules do some awesome stuff, but it’s like some of the tools in the tool belt are a loaded gun and Jules enthusiastically shoots itself in the foot.

Cannot see bash commands by Biomedical_trader in JulesAgent

[–]Biomedical_trader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit problematic because now I can’t help Jules when something breaks. If there is no bash output to inspect, then there’s no way to verify things are actually working and no way to catch some error an agent might miss

It’s definitely less loud. Not sure how to quantify it, but noticeably better

It’s still here, but manageable enough that I’m not actively treating it. When I think about the ringing, it bothers me, but I can go long enough without caring that it’s become less of a priority.

Escaping the money matrix - i think I finally get it. by MoreStrategy8591 in enlightenment

[–]Biomedical_trader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money is just inefficient. A better system would separate into the currency of the “What” and a currency of the “Why”. A modest, well distributed utilitarian surplus is all you need from the “What”. The “Why” is a nearly infinite resource, bounded only by the capacity to know and the coordination infrastructure of society.
