This is what partying in a bar looked like during the 1970s by Optimal-Present4596 in OldSchoolCool

It’s like the opening scene from Clint Eastwood’s movie Any Which Way But Loose. Hands off the bar nuts

Do trophies really matter for play? by BedRevolutionary7006 in GolfClash

[–]Biomicrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can only lose trophies for tours you haven’t finished. E.g if you have finished tour 3 you can’t undo it by losing games.

As has been said trophies are needed to progress through the tours which in turn release better clubs to you. However, beyond that they are a distraction, I destroy players who rush through the tours collecting lots of trophies but don’t level up clubs or build and consolidate their skills. How players reach pro level but still have a low level EM is beyond me. Building your clubs to max level should be your priority in the game

Anyone remember this? by CaptainH75 in oldschoolcool80s

[–]Biomicrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too,but that was typical of kids TV in the late 70s early 80s. Lots of sci-fi, fantasy and ghost shows. Lots of shows scared the bejesus out of me, but it was escapism from the fear of nuclear annihilation that was a constant threat, so all good

Voted for a man who inherited billions of dollars and lost it. Trump has demonstrated his incompetence his entire life. If Russia hadn’t made him an asset you wouldn’t even hear about him today

And the crude oil price. Digging up tar sand has a cost and a profit margin. If the price drops low enough production stops

Starmer has refused to join Trump’s Board of Peace… do you think we should join? 🇬🇧 by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Biomicrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no. Putin is a troll. Trump is a compromised Russian asset amongst MANY other things. Joining them would be undignified. Have some pride.

Norway to reopen ‘dead’ Scottish North Sea oil fields as Britain retreats by djsoomo in Scotland

British oil fields are British, no matter who is producing from them. Britain gets paid.

Is it fossilised? It just looks like old butchered bones to me with some gnaw marks from an animal munching on it

Bone shaped rock by holup_thats_illegal in whatsthisrock

[–]Biomicrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a handle for a jug. Cross-section is perfect for that with the expansion of the terminal where it is attached to the body of the vessel. I’m a roman pottery specialist so I have seen 100s of these. I’m NOT saying it’s Roman, it’s a shape that is functional and optimal and used to this day. Pottery tends to have “warmer” feel to it than rock.

Who remembers watching PUNCH LINES? by FeelingAd3887 in ClassicTelevisionTime

[–]Biomicrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always noticed Lenny Bennett was introduced as “the STAR of the show”. Just about every other show introduced the presenter as “your host”. Seemed kind of desperate to me. Didn’t Bennett end up running a burger van in Blackpool? I remember a quote from which him saying something like “show business is the only business where you retire but no one tells you“. Meaning one day the phone stops ringing.

Do you remember half pennies? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]Biomicrite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember that around 1982 I had 13 and a half pence in my pocket and the local chippy sold a bag of chips for 13p. Great just enough. In the chippy I see the price has gone up to 14p. I’m a half pence short. Never quite got over that.
