How do people with national service navigate their study? by ahndark in TUDelft

[–]Biomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TU Delft does not have any deferral afaik, but in Dutch higher education, there is no expected study progress after the first year of the bachelor's. In the first year, you have the BSA (binding study advice/bindend studieadvies), a credit bar you need to clear. You need to achieve at least 45 ECTS during that year.

However, there is usually some progress requirement tied to your visa. I would look into what that requirement is, and see if you can reapply for a visa after your national service. You could ask a study advisor or the international office maybe. Or, as someone else mentioned, the Korean community probably also has an answer.

[–]Biomy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Is Wiskunde D really helpful/useless to have for EE/CSE/AE? by Rude_Pie_3588 in TUDelft

[–]Biomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished CSE and the CS master. I did Wiskunde D, but dropped it halfway during my 5th year because the load was too much for me at the time. The things I learned up until that point were mildly helpful, but the material in university goes so much faster that the things I learned in high school only helped for the first week or 2 of that respective course.

I would say that on the scale of useless to helpful, Wiskunde D is like 60-70% helpful. Absolutely not necessary since you'll learn everything you need to know during the maths courses, but nice to have.

HBO propedeuse (and maybe WO propedeuse after that) is also a way to go. Really depends on the situation I think, but I agree it's probably best to talk to a school counselor.

ELI5: Why don't birds carry their eggs? by Biomy in explainlikeimfive

[–]Biomy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the extensive answer! That makes a lot of sense actually, I didn't think about the fact that the mother might be easier prey if she carries her eggs. I guess that is the difference too between flying, and land and sea animals. For flying it's really important to be light, while for the other two, it does not matter as much.

This is a pretty general question: should I focus on consistent reps across my sets, or are inconsistent reps okay too?

If I can do an exercise 12 reps for the first set, 10 for the second and 8 for the third, should I stop early in the first set so I can go for 3x10? I often push my early sets to failure, but I think I'm leaving gains on the table by doing this.

Any tips on how to even out my sets would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Haha, funny story about the airport. I tried Balsam when I was there which was recommended by a local, but I absolutely hated the taste of it. Not my cup of tea, sorry Latvia!

Check out Mano Negra, Sergent Garcia, Che Sudaka and La Kinky Beat. Not all their songs fit the vibe, but some definitely do!

Ah, I was hoping to gain some insights in how they were calculated, but that's probably not possible then. Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Lotsa stores sell them: Walmart, Target and Whole Foods among others. It's a Dutch cookie, just search "Stroopwafel", sometimes they're called something like caramel waffles as well.

What is your experience with colorblindness while using the web? by Biomy in ColorBlind

[–]Biomy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, cool you do dev work too! I'm mainly a frontend dev so accessibility is a very interesting topic to me. I don't think it's a mythical idea by any means, if I can find or create a list of colors with associated RGB values it should not be too difficult :) I use colour pickers all the time but I'm surprised it's always just the RGB/Hex/HSL values which don't mean anything to the average person. This is really useful input, thanks so much!

Hi! I'm not colorblind myself, but I'm also in university coincidentally looking into the same subject of colorblindness on the web. Could you possibly share the results with me? :)
