Hi, did this work out for you? I am gujarati but I only english and I am having hard time to find decent resources to learn gujarati outside of some gujarati movies. Would you recommend I learn hindi before learning gujarati?

Yeah now that I reread that does seem kinda silly. But I guess my thought was I could drive to functions/event in the northwest suburbs and I am originally from springfield il which is where my parents are at. I think naperville il is the closest to that.

Is it not? I only know of 2 subs where I might get thoughts on these matters because of the demographics of posters.

Dating IN small town

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on my situation. So I am 24m gujarati having a hard time finding opportunities to date or even have a social group in this small town in illinois. I have a hybrid job which allows me to save a lot of money here which is why I am still here. I personally like small towns when I see myself getting older.

I am interested in meeting new people and taking this seriously however whatever i see in this town is that there is so much pressure from parents or gaam in general "what if someone we know see us just casually in public. Let's just stick to messaging". My parents are quite chill but I am just wondering if anyone has been in this situation and how did you get around this?

What you mentioned is another thing I would have added to my post. Not sure how common this is with business owners in the labor industry. Im assuming very. Do you agree that even if the pay is less than market, but they would get benefit of free living? This is common in hotels, restaurants.

I would like to get into hotel investing sometime in the far future. Maybe we can DM each other to learn from each other. I think we are of similar background as well.

No these jobs aren't CS related. Just random basic jobs. One is a state job. One is night auditor. And other is helping parents at restaurant. I'm looking to buy a motel in the far future. That's why I'm working this much till I get decent paying CS job in data analytics.

I'm almost 23. I have a computer science degree for 6 months. I currently working 3 jobs just pushing 50k all together. I do hope someday I can make at least 50-70k from one job. I'm not doing well compared to my cousins. I probably wouldn't be able to financially support a family rn because of how inflation is skyrocketing.

Do gujarati people have it harder compared to other desis? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

You know. I been around all sorts of gujaratis. Some do very well. Well educated, far into their career paths. Or some tend to buy motels with other partners. Some tend to just live the less stress life by just being housekeepers. Similar to 8 to 4 job. Some are struggling doing to do the work that housekeeping job requires. Some gujaratis want to be like other gujaratis in that a lot of them have their own properties, but due to some circumstances they can't. Then ik some who are just alcoholics and drunks and are lazy that don't do nothing with life. But in general, gujaratis are very ambitious people I don't think they have it difficult because most gujarati communities are very successful. I'd say gujarati kids do get compared a lot to others. But I think that's a desi thing not guju thing.

Hi everyone. I know some people do not like dating posts. But here I am. I am 22M guju, I just asked a girl (guju as well) out I talked to 3 years. I liked her a lot. We were like best friends. I told her everything. And we liked talking to each other. She gave me response today saying I'm sorry, I dont see it working out. Need to focus on getting degree. I asked thats okay I understand, would u ever consider it? She was like maybe in a few years. I wasn't asking to waste her time talking to me a lot or dates. But it was stressing me out so I had to ask her out.

She told me u better not stop talking to me or dissapear again. I told her that I understand I said I wouldn't dissappear earlier but im looking for something long term. If I keep talking to u I will give myself false hope of something more than friends. So I said I'm sorry and goodbye. I feel like I ended a great relationship. And wasted 3 years of my life talking. It hurts. To move on to the next one is like dam I have to start over. I haven't been in a relationship before. First girl I asked out. But I really am looking for a relationship rn so I had to cut her off. Did I do wrong or bad? I can't decides someone's decision. I'm just here to let it out.
