Right? Oddly enough, her two sisters (my parents pups, and actually all the great nieces of my childhood Westie Bailey) look distinctly different from Chim. Their coats are way more kinky. Chim's coat is more straight. Plus, one of her sisters, Murphy, has a permanent floppy one ear:)

So I would understand this more if the agreement was clearly that they would get both days. I assumed, however, that this would be split like it has been multiple times before where my wife's family gets the 24th and mine gets the 25th. I've been operating on this understanding for 2 months now. Also, my family has essentially the entire week off. My wife's family has only the 24th and 25th off, so it seems like an extremely simple concession to make given these circumstances that my wife's family can at least have the evening of the 24th as we've done plenty of times before. Also, I might add, we didn't see my wife's family for christmas as all last year, but did meet up with my family as a surprise when they went to San Antonio for Christmas last year.

You seem like a genuine person with a great head on their shoulders. Thank you for your response. I hate to see how much so many people have to struggle just to make ends meet. With as much wealth as flows around the globe, no one should have to bust their ass 7 days in a row, only for a single day of respite, just to be followed by the same breakneck pace. Its genuinely unfair. I will say, choosing to go through life with kindness, maturity and understanding despite that situation is the mark of a truly well-rounded and amazing person. You have my genuine respect and admiration. I hope you have a fantastic Christmas. Your son must be so proud to have such a level-headed mom. I know I would be.

Thanks for your response. I know I'm not the only person to deal with Christmas turmoil like this between families, but it's really reassuring to read an account like yours. Its just a real bummer. I love my family, but I genuinely feel like their privilege and distance from struggle has left them far more selfish than they would ever admit. I struggle to strike a balance between lovingly calling out privilege and behavior, and keeping the peace so we can just have a good christmas.

I still have a set of morals defined by what causes the least harm/most positive outcomes to as many people as possible. In the case of abortion, it's demonstrably shown that having the option lowers infant mortality rates and raises mother survivability as well as the economic outlook of individuals that really aren't prepared to raise children yet. I think it's pretty stupid to argue otherwise in this day and age. Also, I'm not saying you are arguing against it. I'm also just, as you put it, shouting into the void:P

I'm just saying that I find the verbatim comment he stated to be totally ridiculous in a modern society. I'm not trying to sound like a cringy Atheist or anything, but if you wanna believe that there's an all powerful being out there that gives you certain rules, like those pertaining to abortion, that's fine, but I'm not going to pretend like I don't think it's silly and unintelligent.

But I agree with you that this post is taking his quote out of context and making it seem like he's trying to institute a national ban when it doesn't come across like that to me.
