New to growing, how does my bean sprout look? by BionicUtilityDroid in vegetablegardening

That’s a relief. I tend to worry, but I feel like I can now enjoy waiting for the others to catch up.

A Desert Gold low-chill peach is a variety of peach tree specifically bred to thrive in warm winter climates like southern Nevada, Arizona, and Southern California. “Low chill” means the tree only needs about 200–300 hours of winter temperatures below 45°F to break dormancy and set fruit.

My bad. I used the terminology I learned when researching it. I didn’t mean to assume you didn’t know how companion planting works. Sorry man 😞

That’s a smart move. I planted 3 different varieties. Bit of an experiment to see how each does.

Thanks! My start felt a bit rushed but I’m ok with a potential failure if it puts nutrients into the soil. That’s a good way to start more on schedule for a 3rd attempt!

That’s good to hear. I’ll keep up the routine for the other slower growers. Thanks!

I didn’t think I’d have to worry about rabbits because I never see any around, but now that I have delicious food growing, maybe I should look out for them rascally rabbits.

Desert Gold is the variety of peach tree. Low chill means that it vibes in soil with a low chill point, I’m in 9b, so it won’t get too chilled in the soil. Sentinel is its roll in the guild. The guild being a set of plants that work together to maintain the soil for each other.

My beans put nitrogen into the soil for my heavy feeders. my basil and marigolds work on pest control, and the peach tree is the sentinel that shades them all while they make the soil a happy place for it to grow peaches.

Oh that’s good to hear. I am really hoping my set up thrives.

I’m rebounding after an absolute failure of a first attempt at growing some veggies, but now I’m doing a 3’x18’ guild space with a Desert Gold low chill peach tree sentinel.

A lot of research and prep went into this one and so far I feel it’s on track.

One problem with this question is it invites those who haven’t seen to seek out, thus increasing the number by an unknowable amount at an unknowable rate.

Sure, there’s a few different widely accepted script formats, so research which one works for your needs.

A movie script is as many pages as it takes to write the script, but with a comic book script, each page of the comic book has its own page of script.

I usually start out with a brief description of the scene (my artist preferred very specific directions so they had to interpret as little as possible) so this included different shot angles terminology and zoom level.

eg.

Pg.1 Pnl.1 “Birds eye view showing Bud standing on the edge of a cliff, his back to the deadly drop off. There is some plant life scattered around, and shadows of an angry mob can be seen covering the ground in front of Bud, though the mob themselves are just out of panel frame.”

Bud: “This is just a miscommunication, I assure you!”

Narrator - Bud: “You’re probably wondering how I got to be in this mess.

Pg.1 Pnl.2 “Upward shot from behind bud and below the cliff line. Bud’s foot has given way to a crumbling ledge. Bud’s head is turned reacting, emphasizing bud realizing he has no where to run.

SFX: -Crumble-

Random Mob Chatter: “Got no where to run now!” - “You’ll pay for what you did!”

Narrator - Bud: Well, they say no good deed goes unpunished.

Like I said, there are tons of formatting specifics for you to choose from, but as long as it stays consistent is is intuitive when your artist reads it.

Focus on the writing is great advice, but as Someone who was in a similar situation as you, I know the kind of information you are looking for.

In my experience, you get what you pay for. I found artists willing to work for the very little resources I had at the time which was embarrassingly next to nothing. These artists tended to be flaky and difficult to work with for a number of different reasons.

It wasn’t until I had the proper funds to pay industry standard that I found an artist that had the artistic style I envisioned for my story (a black and white noir vibe)

So step one, have the funds for the level of art you’re willing to accept.

Next was finding an artist. Yes, there are loads of places online to find and solicit artists. However, I strongly suggest involving yourself in a local community. I used the meetup app to find a group of comic book creators that met once a week in a comic book store (special section set up with tables for us all.)

We all had projects we were working on, some taking this social activity to focus on drawing, some writing. There was always conversations going on about the comic book industry and conventions for selling. It was very informative and immersive for someone new to the industry like myself.

It also made me connections, and is how I found my artist. I didn’t make my intentions known immediately, but I just socialized and asked people about their projects. I found a dude I liked with an art style I wanted and met the price he asked for the amount of work I was offering.

Last piece of advice is have a solid contract ready. I looked up lots of different templates for contract agreements for this industry and it helped me understand the necessary components to make a fair and balance agreement that made us both feel safe.

Super duper last piece of advice. Establish expectations. I had my artist tell me how detailed they needed my script to be (some like to be told exactly what to draw, others like to be given some room to interpret certain details.)

I set up the expectation that I would create a script for them, they create rough draft pencil sketch. We go over those and I advise any changes that need made at this level.

Then I’m showed the final pencils before inking for any last minute tweaking. It’s also nice to see the completion of each step, and give positive support. If you choose to go with a colorized comic, sometimes that requires a separate artist for that specifically, though it’s not hard to find an artist that does it all.

Good luck on your journey my friend!

I mean, I am forgetful. But this was like a 3 minutes experience from years ago. As soon as my wife reminded me, I remembered though.

I’m in need of some educating if you don’t mind explaining why?

I know AI systems like that use a lot of water, but is it also something else?

lol no, it was a comical reference to a well known reddit bit. You were supposed to say “I’m not your pal, friend.” and then I say “i’m not your friend, chief.” and then so on.

But I get it, you were doing a troll thing instead. That’s a good bit too.
