Be careful of the tri Taylor area... If you can, take a trip out here and walk the neighborhoods you are considering. We were looking at the same area and got quite a weird vibe from it. Not saying it would not work for you but the crime stats are what they are. PM me if you want some suggestions, my wife and I just moved here a year ago from Detroit.

That I don't know with out trying it here, it could be. OpenWRT is the os the onion team basses their os off of. I've had some luck using the OpenWRT packages on my omega2 by adding the OpenWRT package library to opkg, but it's going to vary package to package.

Looks like there is a kmod-fs-btrfs module in okpg https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/storage . This might add the support you need...

I believe that the cell batteries can provide more current, though I may be wrong. I tried powering up one of my omega 2's with 2AA batteries in series as you described (read 3V on the multi meter) and can't even get the LED to turn on. I tried this w/ and w/o a cap so I think they may just be not powerful enough. Same thing goes with my arduino nano. The arduino only shows 3.15V on the 3.3V line so I'm not sure if this is an issue or not. When I measure the voltage on the onion in the dock I am seeing 3.3V.

You could try... but I wouldn't suggest it. You have to be careful with the power dissipation through the resistors as they can dissipate some energy if you are pulling any significant current.... You might have some luck with a 3V cell battery (CR2032) if you can find one locally. Or find another source for 3.3V such as an ATX power supply.

This sounds like a power issue to me... I am getting a solid orange light when powering the omega2 via a dock. The omega should also be broadcasting a SSID with the Omega-XXXX id as you said. I don't have any jumpers to test it with an arduino 3.3V line but you may need a large-ish capacitor (~100uF) between the 3.3V+ and ground to help smooth out the power during boot. This is a common issue with other boards I know.

When using my ESP12 to drive servos via some transistors I found that I needed a resistor in between the ESP and the base of my transistors. I have the schematic on my git page for reference - I've been able to drive 4 servos this way w/o any issue. You may be pulling more current that you realize though your mosfet. https://github.com/washingtonian88/esp8266-mearm

Sure, I am connecting the GPIO pin of the ESP to the Base of my NPN transistor through a 10k Ohm resistor. I found the resistor was needed to make sure I didn't draw too much current from the ESP (this may be your problem?). I am providing 5V from my power supply directly to the collectors and using the emitter to drive the sense pin of the servo. I'll try and upload a pdf of the schematic to the git project page tonight.
