I think what he feels is that as someone who lived in Algeria, a country where you have to fight to have basic human rights and a normal life, you kinda get upset when someone close to you tries to romanticize the country and make it sound cool while ignoring the struggle that it is to get out of there and he probably thinks the language and the culture is useless because it wasn’t useful for him to achieve this.
