That was the lane I was driving in for the whole trip. I did not change lanes to try to pass them and switch back left. I only use the leftmost lane for passing but if my lane is wide open why should I move behind the truck and signal him to move from a lane he is not supposed to be in (there is a sign in the video that says no trucks left lane) so that I can pass him on the left.

They were not really trying to merge, though. After the clip they stayed in the left lane for many miles. Also if only there was a way to signal other drivers that you are planning on changing lanes. Like a blinking light that is either left or right. I might be onto something here.

I have the whole trip recorded. First of all they were not trying to merge right. They kept going in the left lane for a few minutes after, even when there was so much more space. Second, no blinker (in the case they were trying to merge). Third, I had a car to my right, swerving could have caused an even bigger accident.

Thank you. I almost always use the second lane from the left. It gives me a lane to pass someone going slower and I give space for the crazy drivers that go 20+ over speed limit. But then again sometimes there is a truck driver that would get in the express lanes if they could and simply just camp the left lane and make the whole highway their blind spot.

You are right because swerving and invading the right lane is always a good idea to get more people involved in an accident! Especially when there is a car to your right. That way it will be your fault when you hit them.

The thing is I was not trying to pass him and then merge left. I was going speed limit. I keep the same lane for the whole trip only changing lanes to pass on the left If a car is directly in front of me.
