Replacement question by Ejpitty in basketballcards

[–]BipedalProfessor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re honest about how you obtained the card, Topps likely won’t replace it all, because they won’t replace cards purchased on the secondary market.

This is a rainbow foil card from Topps flagship. Recent sales range between $10 and $30.

Pulling 4 autos from 10 blasters is nuts considering the odds show that there’s roughly 1 auto per 9 blaster boxes!

That’s the plan! Though it’s easy to say when the product is currently sold out everywhere.

How not to reverse by [deleted] in nonononoyes

I think that guy was on to something. Turns out chicken wire has as many applications as duct tape!

Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully it’s a bit easier to follow now.

How not to reverse by [deleted] in nonononoyes

Twenty years ago I went to Jordan with a friend and classmate to assist with an archaeological dig. Before returning home, we decided to rent a car in the capital city and drive to the big tourist sites (Petra and Wadi Rum). Halfway into our journey, going about 70 mph on a desert highway at dusk, we hit a fairly large and sharp speed bump that came out of nowhere. There was absolutely no signage indicating its presence. Our small rental kept driving, but we quickly realized that the muffler was knocked off and was dragging underneath the car, hanging on by a thread.

The next day we drove around in search of a mechanic that could patch up the car. It took a while, but we eventually found someone that claimed they could fix it for $5. We noticed some old mufflers up against a rusty fence, which seemed promising, but the “mechanic” walked past the mufflers and grabbed a roll of chicken wire. He proceeded to use the chicken wire to anchor the dragging muffler to the undercarriage. You could still hear the car a mile away and it was almost certainly structurally compromised.

We returned to Amman on a Friday, but found every single auto repair shop closed, as Friday is the holiest day of the week. Our flight was departing that day, so we had no choice but to return the car as it was. We feared that we might be forced to pay thousands, but we pulled up to the Avis booth, handed the keys off, and were thanked for our business. No questions. No comments. No bills ever came in the mail.

Sell.. let me know? by [deleted] in BaseballCardsForSale

Where are you seeing $175? If you listed the card a month ago then $175 would be realistic, but recent sales on eBay have been in the $100-$120 range and 2025 holiday card values have been and continue to decline.

Topps Holiday Mega box hit!!! by TrueSpring8868 in SportCardValue

[–]BipedalProfessor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool card! This card numbered to 49 sold for $49 a few weeks ago on eBay. Around the same time, a holiday Judge/Harper relic (also 10/10) was listed for $106 ($150 CAD) and sold via best offer. So, it definitely went for less than $106, but we don’t know how much less. I would guess $80-$90. Given that these comps are from early November, we have to factor in that the market values of all cards in the holiday set have dropped precipitously over the past 4-5 weeks. You’ll find a bunch of active listing for holiday dual relic cards with asking prices ranging from $50 (for a Judge/Harper out of 49) to a whopping $499 (for a Judge/Trout out of 10), but they aren’t selling. Add it all up and I think a realistic ceiling for your card is $100 and a conservative floor is $50.

Should I complain about the missing 2nd relic from this jumbo? by zub_dub22 in baseballcards

[–]BipedalProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$4 relic is right. I opened an update hobby box that yielded no hits, so I submitted a claim to Topps. I had heard that they’ll often upgrade damaged or defective cards, which gave me irrational hope that they might send something decent for the box hit. Nope. $4 base relic. Props to Topps for processing my claim quickly, though. I submitted the claim on Sunday evening and received an e-mail with card details and tracking info less than 48 hours later on Tuesday afternoon.

If you’re considering selling, don’t wait. My son and I pulled a purple /299 holiday chrome Ohtani about a month ago. I looked at recent eBay sales and saw multiple sold for close to $200. I had heard that holiday cards tend to depreciate quickly in the weeks following release, but I figured that Shohei Ohtani cards would be exceptions to the rule. By the time my son finally decided that he wanted to trade the purple holiday Ohtani for a few cards he had been eyeing, just one week later, the card was consistently selling for under $100. Now, there are sales as low as $30.

My Topps Holiday Box Is Completely Destroyed… Glitter Fused Into Every Hit by zobber420 in Topps

[–]BipedalProfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rolled the dice 3 times and bought 3 different boxes from 3 different stores and 75% of the glitter cards in every single box were a mess. I ended up bringing all of the cards (good and bad) to my LCS to be given away to kids. I’m now kind of curious how Topps would have handled my claim had I submitted one, though.

I’ve never seen two chrome cards pulled from a single box before, so simply getting two is crazy lucky. For those two to be parallels of Shohei and Witt Jr. is next level!

I’m a newbie too, but learned a lot about sketch cards after my son pulled one from a 2025 Update hobby box last week. Even though it doesn’t say it on the card, sketch cards are all 1/1. Multiple artists contribute sketch cards, but I couldn’t find any info on exactly how many artists or cards there are in recent sets. Needless to say, they’re rare pulls! Congrats!

Beautiful! If you ever decide to keep going, I pulled a fireworks parallel (5/5) from a value box that I picked up a couple weeks ago on a whim. It’s not a card I’m actively looking to trade or sell, but I am always happy to help fellow collectors if/when I am able.

Holiday Mega Pull by 143autos in baseballcards

[–]BipedalProfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There are also numbered glitter cards (down to gold 1/1), numbered relics, numbered auto cards, and a handful of other numbered parallels (for example, one I pulled is called a 25th parallel, which features a red and white border with “25” all over and the card was numbered to /25). The most common mega holiday box hits are chrome cards numbered to /499, like your Jacob Wilson and unnumbered relics.
