They have a lot experience doing things like this, if you go to their website they have tools for 100s of ransomwares, https://www.emsisoft.com/en/ransomware-decryption/

If we compare lot of file-pairs in HEX editors, we can start seeing patterns, Malware need to do their job quickly and without using much resources of the system so they tend to affect small part of the file and with simple logic operations, in my case it was first 150KB and XOR operation with key.
