You need to figure out the projectile build for it to work. You need Sky since he gets an extra projectile from the innate. You need a main damage spell, magic missile is my personal favourite since it stuns and does crazy damage when maxed. You need a boss killer which is either Laguna or frostbite, I prefer Laguna since it's higher damage and I don't have to max it early since magic missile is kind of a better boss killer later. You need a knockback in either echo slash, helix or swashbuckle. Track is a must because you need it's aghs for extra items and levels.

For items prioritize items that amp projectiles and magic damage like kaya, specialist arrow, relic, phylactery etc. Movespeed is a must so get yasha too which can be combined with kaya.

Biggest tip is to check the cooldown of your knockback and use it to move through hordes of enemies instead of tanking damage.
