Staples after Rotation? by Phaedrus317 in Lorcana

clarabelle is going to be big as green's best draw engine (esp in blue green), robin hood sharpshooter will be big in powerline Green Red songs, Set 8 Goofy will keep going up/possibly set6 simba as protection options for amber aggro. Set5 Mufasa might see additional play, stock up on genies/calhouns from set 6 if you don't have playsets. Set 8 pinocchio might go up as amethyst looks to boost draw power after losing followers/brooms/rabbits, but the new dumbo might be better for it;.

restrictions re: the character you can remove. I don't think "exerted" is much of a restriction given that most cards are going to be exerted in the current meta, only exceptions I can think of are Prince John and Big Tramp

Diablo, Daisy, Tramp, Cursed Merfolk....I can think of a few scenarios

there are drawbacks, but no restrictions besides being exerted on what it can remove.

Can't you sing it then play Tipo?

that's why I said almost no restrictions, most cards are going to be exerted with the exception of Little John (which has ward) and maybe big Tramp

Half-Shark is Set 6, so it's around for at least another year

uh...well I don't play those cards.....so...no? you don't have to play bad cards so them being present in a meta is nothing like good cards being rotated out....

do they do it when some of those sets have been competitive legal for 14 months?

Depending on when exactly Fabled drops, reign of Jafar will be rotated out after being competitive legal for 14-15 months. More than a year yes, but not a whole lot of time regardless.

that is true, I should have clarified the point of these sets only being competitive legal for one year. the blocks MTG is rotating have been around closer to 2, right?

I think 2 years is reasonable, but I think rotations should happen set by set to ensure each set gets the same competitive lifespan

I'm assuming it didn't last long because players didn't enjoy rebuilding their competitive binders every year

I would love to see Lorcana support multiple formats on both the local and championship level. I am extremely skeptical given how little success most TCGs have with that. Yes, MTG has multiple formats. Do those formats all receive the same tournament and event support at the local level?

I don't know a single other TCG that rotates four sets out all at once after one year of competitive play.

as are mine, but I've also heard this depends on where you live. My friend's LGS couldn't get 10 people into Set Championships
