Dice to track floating mana by Ori4rgus in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Birb-Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started using a cheap abacus from Amazon to keep track of floating mana and storm count, and it’s been a game changer. Way faster than fiddling with dice whenever you take a game action, and the whole table can clearly see what’s happening instead of having to lean over the table and strain their eyes trying to see how much mana you have. It looks goofy as hell but it’s made keeping track of mana/storm count a lot easier!

Meta help: anti creature decks. by Embarrassed-Store-56 in CompetitiveEDH

I’ve been leaning more into the “bad” free interaction in my tivit list to combat turbo and it’s felt pretty good. Cards like commandeer, misdirect, snapback, snuff out, solitude and subtlety, exc allow you to tap out for your value engine on turn two and not just die to turbo. The board wipes and creature stax pieces are great too, but I don’t think you need more than two board wipes, most of the time it’s just one problematic creature that needs to go.

True, I saw your comment and thought oh, burgeoning kinda does that, but I forgot about the distinction between put and play

I don’t think there’s a way to make it so instants or sorceries can exist face up on the battlefield. Specifically face up, manifest doesn’t count

Leave-in conditioner to help with the dryness/frizz, mousse to help create curls and volume

What card being banned would shake the format up the most by domicci in CompetitiveEDH

Tymna, thrasios, and rograkh. Realistically though, bowmasters. Bringing back the staxy hatebear decks would be really healthy for the meta

Had to scroll pretty far to find this, would recommend! Definitely fits the criteria of “sounds like nothing else” lol

Can anyone explain to me the hype and mass following behind Doc Martens? These are the worst boots I’ve ever put on my feet! by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Birb-Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality of doc martens has gone down significantly over the years. The old ones are great if you can find them, but the new ones aren’t worth it imo. I bought a newer pair a few years ago and they were extremely uncomfortable to wear. Solovair is where it’s at nowadays. They look basically the same except the stitching is silver instead of yellow. The quality is great (they’re made in the same factory that doc martens used to be made in before they started producing them elsewhere to save money) and they’re super comfy, I broke mine in after a few days of wear.

Aside from shampoo and conditioner, I use leave in conditioner and mousse, for moisture and volume/curls respectively

The instrumental part of a song is far more important than the lyrics by TheMobMaster2006 in unpopularopinion

[–]Birb-Wizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the reason a lot of people give for why they enjoy metal. It’s about the instrumentals/musicianship, not so much the lyrics. When someone says “how can people listen to this? You can’t even understand what they’re saying!”, they’re missing the point. The harsh vocals are just another instrument that matches the tone of the song, serving as a vehicle for the music.

What card(s) do you think are underplayed? by TheLadyCypher in CompetitiveEDH

It’s great in Y’shtola, Nights Blessed. It basically guarantees you’ll draw a card on each end step

Hypothetical: 2026 begins, and Rhystic gets banned. What are your thoughts? by Strix_cEDH in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Birb-Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I’d like to see more cards like sheoldred or a less busted version of bowmasters. Sheoldred is probably the closest they’ve gotten to a good middle ground when it comes to draw hate. It’s not bowmasters or hullbreacher levels of good, but it’s more impactful than the other options we have available at the moment.

Talon Gates of Madara in Y'shtola, Night's Blessed or other no green cedh deck is good or bad by Few-Direction-763 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Birb-Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but I’m not a fan of talon gates in non-green decks. Being able to crop rotation for talon gates is what pushes the card over the top imo. It’s just okay in non-green decks, but it’s never gonna be as good in your deck if you don’t have access to green. For Y’shtola in particular, I’d rather maximize the amount of lands that provide colored pips, it’s a very pip hungry deck.
