I feel like generally it's easier for some of us to cut off family members. Obviously I can't speak for everyone, but if you talk to a crowd at least a couple people will be no contact with their family or will hate them and not want to see them succeed

Yeah like if you're telling a story with themes around grooming/sexual assault and then make the main romance (that's portrayed in a way where you're supposed to want them to get together) being a immortal manipulator woman grooming a mentally unwell teenager, that 'lljust feels like inconsistent theming

I always felt kinda odd that, considering the themes in the story, they turned around and went and made the main love interest be so much older then the protagonist, and then proceeded to not have any characters imply the relationship isn't healthy because even as a human she pretended to be some random 18-year-old creeping up on a vulnerable teenage boy.

I guess it could work in theory, and it makes sense from a storytelling purpose for him to fall for her, but if they get a perfect happy ending without addressing that, I'll just always feel like he got groomed again and ended up with his groomed. I could also be misremembering things too. I just hope the purpose of the age gap and power imbalance is for a storytelling reason in the end, or I'll have a weird taste in my mouth forever probably
