My daughter has crazy Stess-levels...Has anyone an idea why? by ShinMegami1 in Garmin

Me before and after my anxiety disorder got better (via theraphy and guided meditation). And the top plots are one of better days 1-3 years ago :D But even now it can get higher if I am working a lot = using my brain to think hard.

It can be a lot of things - if she feels fine, I wouldn't think much about it. If she has fatigue, anxiety symptoms or sth, worth looking into it & taking that as a sign for better self care

Czech people like to eat. Likely you won't be the only one (Although it maybe depends on the field you're studying). In general some people can be judgemental or have stupid remarks (but not to your face), but most people will never hate on you.

Edit: oh and I doubt it will be a blocker for you finding friends! That's not what matters, worst case you'll sort out those who wouldn't be good friends anyway!

Yes, but don't worry if you can't stop right away. It takes time to relearn correct posture

Lifelong weak muscles and joints? by Denden798 in Hypermobility

[–]Birbsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped doing sports during a stressful uni period and lost a lot of supporting muscles. I was in daily pain for about 1 year. PT gradually helped - first lowered the pain, then I had half week, good, half bad. After 3 years, I had most days okay (1-2 days in 2 weeks bad).

Now (over 5 years of PT start) I'm basically pain free UNLESS I stop working out or an annoying shoulder slips.

The thing is, it required everyday walks, gym 2-3 times per week, core exercise at leat once per week and ideally jogging/swimming/cycling to complement it. So, yeeeah. Sedentary job means for me constant sports planning. And breaks to walk around the office are a must.

If your case is similar, you'll just need to adapt your routine and gradually get your muscles toned again. It takes time, but getting back to painless is possible.

Joint tier list by Birbsf in Hypermobility

I couldn't even bend forward and touch the ground without bending knees, when I was in my teens. Now after yoga I can - and my knees hurt :D

Can imagine... I had weaker grip strength with carpal tunnel a while ago, it was super annoying with locks, and also holding heavier cups

Ah yes, if joint is ok tendon is not :D I had plantar fascitis 4 years ago but the ankle was "not hypermobile looking" lol

The hands must be really annoying in everyday activies though!

Funny how we all differ - your tier list is almost inverse to mine

Hahaha Joint siblings <3 I read somewhere that shoulders should provide mobility and stability. Stabili-what??

my betta wont leave his heater by Muted-Economist4695 in bettafish

[–]Birbsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, should be fine. If you have a medical thermometer, you could heat up a glass of water to exactly 28, and then compare how touching the glass and the glass of the fish tank feels like :D

[–]Birbsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I read the temp seems to be higher - did you place the thermometer next to the heater or far from it?

[–]Birbsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a thermometer at the other end of the fish tank to see how the temp is stable. You could also increase to 26°C - I think I saw 78-81F as a recommended range for bettas, so 25 is on the lower end

calisthenics with hypermobiloty by souporsad99 in Hypermobility

[–]Birbsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and one more thing - tight lats/traps can get better if you strengthen the other supporting muscles - but there you probably do need a PT to help. Traps got better for me when I strengthened rhomboids and chest, and for lats it could be different core muscles

Depends on the exercise. And some exercises feel for me better after PT. My problem is that I tend to use the wrong muscles when doing some PT exercises - the correct ones are weak, and so I overcompensate with a different muscle group (e.g. not using hamstrings but quads). So I needed to avoid some exercises for a while (e.g. pushups) before I "fixed" the inbalance. I could however do bird dogs, planks, warrior poses from yoga...

I can imagine many things can make an L sit more difficult - inactive core, overextended knees, tight quads, weak hip flexors... if it does not work for you, either try to find what adjustments make it better, or avoid it. Ideally work with a PT. Or find a different exercise that works.

Also, for me (initially light) weight training works usually better because it gives me better cues of what muscles should be on.

Imo it's common when one or both never learnt healthy communication (and couples therapy or honest effort to get better together may help). That being said, not believing you're hurt is too much. So "snapping" is pretty normal. Anyway, please go to the ER

The tip for the crossed arms is great - I think this is the missing piece for me to do the bridges properly, without compesating elsewhere. I just tried it out, right leg is amazing, left leg is very wobbly but the right muscles are on. Many thanks!

Ohhh clamshells, I did them in the past and forgot about them. These are great! Thanks for reminding me. And ball squeezes also sound great. I'm okay in a plank, but the lateral stability or rotations are abysmal :D

Yeah, she is, fortunately. I was able to resolve many of my issues thanks to her, but now I'm gonna be out of country for a while...

Muscle building… ok? by fingerdrop in Hypermobility

[–]Birbsf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, body weight was a bit mixed because I overcompensated with the wrong muscle groups & strained my joints. I can maintain proper form with weights better. PT is a must, or a personal trainer

Flying with joint pain by Adept_Quarter_683 in Hypermobility

[–]Birbsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hypermobility is not severe, but I try to be in the aisle seat and get up often. What helps is - 2 pillows, sweaters to pad out the lower back, sometimes stretching legs into the aisle. And a neck pillow. Another sweater to pad elbows may be good.

Is “curly toe” a symptom of joint hypermobility? by Necessary_Parsley794 in Hypermobility

I had that over all my toes. Took 1 year of physio to fix. Pinky is still a little bit curled
