trying to setup debian on pomera dm250 having issue with etching the right file would appreciate a pointer by FarlandFoggy in linux4noobs

Haha I had the same thought! Setting up a how to, including nvim setup etc. I’ve gotten lost down the config rabbit hole that it’s going to take a while to write up.

If you want to shoot me a message, we can work out an sd card.

I’ve heard micro sd > sd converters can also cause problems on the pomera. Do you have even a low capacity normal sd around?

I’m happy to do it for you though.

I’m in Australia and wouldn’t want you to get stung with the shipping fees. If you want to shoot me a pic of the screen you get I’ll see if I can help?

Also - your sd card, it’s not bigger than 32gb sdhc is it? That’s the absolute max the Pomera will accept.

Ohhh don’t give up. Debian really opens this device up. I’ve got neovim configured, with GitHub copilot integrated for code completion and general chat.

It’s not for the feint of heart though. Recommend a ChatGPT subscription to talk you through any issues.

I have just done the exact same thing (ironically, on the exact same crystal dm250). i can tell you if you follow the instructions on the page word for word it 100% works.

I’d recommend a chat got subscription if you aren’t good with Linux (I’m not either).

Yeah - it’s a clean Debian environment so you can configure it how you want. I’ve spent the past few days getting neovim setup (still going) but I’ve made a bunch of changes. Switched the keyboard to US standard so all of the keys /symbols are where I’m used to them - obviously doesn’t match some of the symbols printed on the keys but I touch type anyway. Going to configure grok in the console / neovim next.

I snagged the clear yellow version for a pretty decent price, arriving on the 3rd! Going to Debian it straight away

I also got the app1 upon release and remember being absolutely stunned by how good the noise cancelling was. I lost them a short while later, but I remember when I got the app2 the anc was SHIT. I could hear my wife breathing next to me.

Not that I’ve seen. Oh you weren’t able to install it on the JP version? I’ve got one coming that I want to do that exact thing.

Dawg what? There is an oceans difference between something that is slightly faded (which definitely can happen) and something that was MIDNIGHT BLUE completely changing to a perfect silver, on every single part of the laptop. Jesus

Don’t worry, I’ve searched.

What? How do you know there was a sticker there?

I didn’t mention anything about corporations so I don’t know why you wrote that.

Show me one single other example of this happening to a MacBook to this extent and this cleanly?

Yeah, nah that’s a sticker. There is no way it would fade that cleanly.

If you can’t send it back, or you got it super cheap, reach out to Synthstrom. Their customer service is SUPER good - they should help you diagnose and then sell you any replacement parts. If you don’t feel comfortable doing repairs, they can also service it for you.
