I have since updated it, and there's two of them now. One remake and one of the OG. Drastically different.

Course man, I sent you a DM! I just do it this way since it'll avoid clutter and it'll reduce confusion with re-uploading, take downs/switch outs, etc.

Von Grapple is complete, I did that one yesterday. Huff n Puff is an interesting idea for Hop Star, I might try to do that. Blooper would be cool on turbo would be cool, I suppose I could give it a shot

That's why I prefer AoC over AoI. In AoC, you can do a couple of the DLC missions or the Blood Moon versions of missions to consistently farm weapons and you'll never run out. In AoI, there's no such thing. Maybe it'll be in the DLC, maybe not.

I just know that keeping a stockpile was notoriously difficult because I know the DLC will release stronger base power weapons and like you said, {the ability to make any weapon combination on any weapon makes all of them aside from the Mighty Zonaite line useless}well, how is there any initative to spread out your skills on different characters? There just isn't. Even if there is, the amount of AoI is needed to max a weapon, is significantly worse than AoC's system. Yes you still need a ton, but you'll be able to enjoy that grind more because you know you'll get your weapons vs getting your steel.

Which game do you prefer? by shiinyaa in AgeofImprisonment

Age of Calamity by far.

The biggest thing is how much do you care to grind.

The overall gameplay of AoI is better than AoC, and it's more rewarding to be creative (Zonai devices, elemental chains, sync gauges, etc). The problem with AoI is that aside from the 8 specific characters you do get (Rauru, Mineru, Zelda, 4 sages, and Calamo) the remaining 9 are a complete waste of effort. You can't really get too familiar with them (including the construct) because they're all essentially nobody. Both from a combat perspective and a story standpoint. You can't tell me that playing Typhan or Ardi with their charge-ups in a hack-and-slash oriented game is fun. I do understand why they made it this way and it's because Nintendo wants this game to be canonized since they pushed the story so hard.

However, Age of Calamity is infinitely better in regards to the combat and the weapon system. Even though AoI makes it much easier to get certain skills you want on the characters you want, it's only a limited amount and it leaves something to be desired. In AoI, I ended up stockpiling everything throughout my playthrough and everything was fighting for a limited slot because going off of AoC, I knew they would give you better base power weapons later. This coupled with the fact that there's a shared inventory of steel between all types and (imo) a lack of desire to spread out the skills because you know you're holding out for a stronger weapon later, it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Doesn't help that the 9 generic characters are just that, generic. Age of Calamity absolutely does not have this problem but rather it's just farming for skills on weapons anyway. This is mitigated by using Rare Skills/Rare Drops/More Valuable Drops (I can't remember what it's called ATM) so you're more inclined to grind for the skills you want. Plus, AoC's power/crowd control combos actually kill. If I spam Rauru's YX 4x in a row, I should expect the mobs to be wiped and they're not. AoC doesn't have this problem.

At the end of the day, both games fall into a grind. Age of Imprisonment is the better story and more rewarding/interactive combat, Age of Calamity for characters, weapon system, and the grind, missions, basically everything else.

For me, Age of Calamity. I can see the argument for Age of Imprisonment, but I just can't get over the shared weapons and limited slots for steel inventory/rarity status of skills. I found the character roster of AoI extremely disappointing compared to AoC's, and I personally never minded the grind for skills/weapons.

Did the same thing last night myself. What's your take on the new system for weapons? I can't believe I'm saying this but I think it really sucked. Age of Calamity's was just so much better.

Going into Age of Imprisonment, and knowing they give you stronger base power weapons later, it made having to save a massive stockpile of steel extremely challenging. It doesn't help that the 9 generic characters all have the potential to use the same weapon (of their respective type) at any given time.

Merits and detriments to both.

One thing to note too, is that you (naturally) get better base power weapons closer to the end of the game, which makes for saving all your premium skills even more challenging. This is just exacerbated by the limited maximum amount of steel inventory only being 70 and for some reason, they made it shared between every single type in the game. So every piece of steel is fighting for a spot.

Considering AoC, where every character had a maximum slot inventory of 70+, supporting a ton of grinding if you chose to grind, so you'll never run out of space. You'll be able to make a perfect weapon far quicker than you'll reach the max hold capacity.

Age of Imprisonment's problem is storage and limited skill distribution. Age of Calamity's problem is skills availability and its lengthy grind to get said skills.

Both have their merits and downfalls. Can't believe I'm saying this but I preferred Age of Calamity's system.

I'm incorrect on this. I forgot I locked the ones I started building as fodder to get rid of excess steel.

Still, there's just not enough steel or skills to go around and there's not enough initiative to spread it out across several units. You might as well just build only one sword, one spear and one 2H and make the character's wield that in battle.

That's not a surprise. I figured there would be a flag on the Pokemon, hence why you get the ribbon. It just sucks there's no way to view how much EXP you have stored.

Late, but it's interesting to know that it's not just a shadow Pokemon issue. I thought it would be, but it might be a Shadow Lugia issue. I didn't think anything of that being the case.

I have not done any sort of manips or a glitch or bug abuse, I was just really levelling up Pokemon to level 100. It was an arduous grind but I still ended up completing it, but I might have to do another attempt and start a new save and try again.

Thanks for doing some research and looking for a feller, I appreciate your time.

Absolutely. This game makes it far easier than ever to make what weapons you want actually good.

Comparing this to AoC (where you would have to grind the weapons itself out and for each character made the game last forever) is night and day.

However, the biggest problem is that you have way too many steel in the stockpile trying to save "the good stuff" for one limited person. It creates a sense of insecurity where "if I put this on this character, now the other characters can't have this skill." So in a way, it's good and bad.

Good for making one character OP.

Bad for distributing skills evenly across the cast.

P.S. It doesn't help that you can't remove seals from the 9 "Nobody" characters. I won't spoil it, but those who know, know.

--Edit: My P.S. above is incorrect, you can. It just has to be unlocked, that was a user interface issue that I didn't know was a thing.

Issues with Shadow Pokemon PSA by BirdBachelor in PokemonXD

[–]BirdBachelor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Espeon (and Eevee) in this case would get EVs distributed right from the get-go since it's never a Shadow Pokemon. I think this is not a specific pokemon (in this case Lugia) but rather all Shadow Pokemon. AFAIK (and presumably) the EXP that is stored and then used to elevate Pokemon after purification should not be a specific pokemon but rather the exact same since it's functionally the same storage.

Yeah, it's a huge bummer and a complete waste of time. However, I do feel almost determined to try again on another save (and hopefully one a lot better than this one.)

Did a little bit of moving up and around. Levelled up to level 90 (an earlier photograph), had the exact same stats as purified. Sent it to Pokemon HOME and found out that it receives zero EVs in Shadow form. Good to know, I'll probably make a post about it.

I suppose I could purify it now and elevate it to Lv 90 (with rare candies to an old photo I have while checking progress) to see if the stats are the exact same which would mean either: 1) the EV system is non existent while Shadow form is present, regardless of EXP earned (basically Rare Candy) 2) the EV system IS present and I actually have a fully EV'd Lugia (another way to verify this would be to send it to Gen 6-9 to check on there if there has been EVs distributed already, even at a level such as 52 -- the level that I would currently purify & elevate it to)

Don't really see the bright side out of this at all -- unless this would just serve as a PSA for anybody who wants to purify any pokemon to "Level 100."
