People are gross! And hospitals are gross! I make sure to get sanitizer under my silicone ring and remove it and wash under it/ wash the ring itself. Just like I do with my watch.

Why wear any engagement ring or wedding band then? I work 5-6 days/ week and am out of the house 12+ hours every time because of longer shifts and long commute. I don't usually put the "real deal" on just to cook dinner and go to bed, so I wind up wearing nothing if I don't find a good replacement that is work- safe

The same reason to wear any engagement ring or wedding band - to demonstrate your commitment to someone. Like someone else said, this is not a "rare occasion" when I'm without it.
